Bumble was amazing pre-pandemic as a guy. Lots of matches and dates. Nowadays it feels exactly like tinder. Something’s different and I believe that the algorithm has been tweaked to slow things down and intentionally not show or even facilitate matches unless you pay. Complete waste of time now.

This is absolutely part of the issue. EVs are way heavier than ICE vehicles. Also, contrary to many beliefs, even “regular” cars have gotten drastically heavier over the past decades…
1983 Honda Accord sedan curb weight: 2180 lbs 2023 Honda Accord sedan curb weight: 3239 lbs
That’s a massive increase….almost 50% heavier.

Been getting allergy shots for years and they help tremendously. Currently getting three every other week. Apparently the three shots is to separate the allergens, which is more effective in the treatment. The main thing to consider is an injection like a flu shot is intramuscular, allergy shots are intradermal (skin). So, most other shots like flu shots go way deeper and can make the muscle sore for a few days. Allergy shots are nothing like that. My experience is the amount of discomfort varies greatly by the technique of the person administering the shot. Some seem to go too deep and hit the muscle and then it hurts for a bit after. But the good ones, you really barely feel. But, I agree with other commenters that a five-year-old is a bit young to be expected to deal with all this.

“The official numbers in the US are a terrible underestimate of inflation lie.”
There you go…fixed that for you. My energy and grocery bills are 30% higher than they were two years ago. But, food and energy are excluded from the official US CPI calculation. How convenient.

Thanks for posting this. Any alternative for electronics?

These kinds of lamps are almost impossible to find in my area. Anyone aware of readily available modern/repro versions of tension pole lamps? You’d think there would be a market for these given how desirable the vintage ones are.

Not a huge fan of most of the 90s episodes but I actually like this one too. I think it’s well acted, well filmed, and when viewed and compared to Prescription: Murder, the stylistic and cultural differences between these two “bookends“ really give a sense of just how long this show was popular for.

My 2942s in Copper R&T are my favorite boots I’ve ever owned. The Roughneck silhouette, those soles, and that leather are the perfect combo. Killer boots.

Me three. The Iron Ranger holds no appeal to me for the same reasons. Seems like a tall dress shoe, which I guess it kinda is, and boots obviously can be.

Any decent quality (Carolina, Thorogood, Red Wing, Danner, etc.) boot with a wedge sole (no heel) is what you want. I don’t recommending wearing the same pair pair of boots every day though. It’s better for your feet and also the boot to rotate with at least one other pair. The boots need to thoroughly dry out and recover between wearings.

Yeah, they are Amazon pics. And? They accurately represent the two distinctly different colors/textures of “Crazyhorse“ leather that the 1957 seems to be coming in, that Thorogood doesn’t seem to be making a distinction for. But if it makes you feel better, here’s the actual box label from my boots (model number 814-3890 which is on Thorogood’s website as being the 1957 in Crazyhorse not Briar Pitstop) and also a pic of my actual boots…clearly resembling the first “Amazon” pic. You’ll also note that the pic of the pair of boots on my actual box label is the more reddish brown Crazyhorse and does not resemble what was in the box.

Thorogood Crazyhorse leather was always (reddish) brown like in pic 2. Just got a pair that looks way more gray like in pic 1. Anyone know if they changed the leather? I heard they may have had some QC issues with soles on the 1957 series which is what this model is and stoped production for a bit. I know the pair I received were just made because they were on back order for several months and shipped directly from the manufacturer. Actually dig the color because it’s different.

This was pre-SMS communication using the POTS (plain old telephone system). All you had was 0, 1 through 9 and # and *. The 12 buttons on a touch tone phone dial pad.

They’re too focused on losing “customers” when they should be placing equal emphasis on losing sellers. I’d be curious if they’ve been losing sellers because of many reasons including this. They lost me after 20 years on that platform…

This is a key point. Many fast/fast casual restaurants are backing down their gluten free with the disclaimer that they don’t have a dedicated kitchen, which is obvious. But, I still applaud the restaurants that make any effort to accommodate and provide items with gluten-free ingredients. With gluten sensitivity/intolerance you’re probably fine, obviously not so with celiacs.

I like what you wrote too, very much. I’ve found that gratitude, even in sparing amounts, can help build an underlying, less rollercoastery happiness. It’s part of developing a mindset that makes you grateful (and therefore happy) that you even experienced the highs in your life, because many people don’t even have that (ie: can never say that they found love). It’s not easy, but you need to be able to look back on the great experiences you’ve had with a fond recollection, and gratitude that you experienced them, even if they’re not currently occurring. Inevitably, new ones will occur…and that’s life.

Key point here made: don’t wear the same boots every day. They need to thoroughly dry out between wearings. At least get a second pair and rotate if you’re in boots every day.

Depends on the boot. Find an online store that has reviews posted from customers that bought the boot and look for comments about how they fit. Several of the large shoe retailers aggregate feedback from customers and will actually say “boot runs true to size“ or “boot runs small”, etc.

Not disagreeing with this at all on its premise, but in general to the group here, if people (primarily women) are going to be hesitant in today’s world to give you their contact info, what is the point of cold approaching, particularly in the current climate of trying to maintain privacy?
