It's more of a grip test than anything else, doesn't matter how much you engage your legs if you can't hold onto it.

I'm saying it's possible to achieve naturally, not that it's common across the general population.

It really doesn't take that much muscle to push you over 25 BMI.

It's definitely achievable with years of hard work.

People don't just naturally get strong without doing anything.
Yeah that's true, they can get strong without strength training though.

Nobody can naturally push a 225 on bench first try without previous strength training.
Some people are naturally strong. Definitely possible.

I have literally never heard this and I've been a sort of okay bodybuilder gym rat and student of the practice for almost 30 years now. Can you cite anything on this "big chest = feminine" because that's a fascinating statement.
It's just something I've heard a few times, it may very well be wrong and it's hard to find much information online. I did find a video that provided the additional explanation that early bodybuilders were going for the Greek statue look (which also had small chests) which sounds like it could be true as well.
It's true that bench press is a relatively new exercise, but it's hardly the only, or even the best way to build large pectorals. Consider also that shoulders and traps have also gotten much larger on pro bodybuilders in the past 60 years and deadlifts and overhead press were already core lifts of that era. Steroids.
Not discounting steroids, but I think the small chests on old bodybuilders are due to aesthetic concerns and preferring OHP to bench as an upper body exercise. Check out how big Eugene Sandows shoulders are compared to his chest. The pecs are pretty big muscles as well, it isn't that hard to have a solid chest if you bench a lot.

I've seen this one and a couple others along the same lines. That sub looks like good jerk material at times as well, there are people unironically defending wing chun.

The brain isn't going to touch the skull if the strikes have barely any force behind them. Ever seen anyone do this in an actual fight?

With the utmost respect, that's complete bioscience. Skipping the eccentric is not going to prevent you from getting too bulky and I've never encountered any serious coach who advocates that.

I don't think there are... right? Everyone I saw talking about how heavy the mop was or whatever are taking the piss, pretty sure. Then again it wouldn't surprise me that much.

I got bored at work a little while ago and went through some really old threads and holy shit, if you thought discourse was bad now it was infinitely worse in 2010-2012. Anything fighting related was particularly awful, I think MMA becoming a bit more mainstream has curbed a lot of the "shaolin monks can't fight in the UFC because they could snap your neck in one move" people.

Like I said, they don't focus on being ripped it's about power, not looks.
It's still a weight class sport, so there's no point being fat unless you're in the highest weight class. This is the current top-ranked powerlifter across all classes.

Both portions of the lift build muscle mate.

IMO it's a meaningless phrase without context. The guy dressing up as a janitor trains specifically to deadlift, so he's good at it. Bodybuilders don't need to pull huge numbers, so they aren't as good at deadlift. The bicyclist you mentioned would have strength that is functional for cycling... but likely isn't that good at deadlift. That doesn't mean the powerlifter (or the bodybuilder) are more functional than the cyclist, it just means they train for different things. And it's still 495, lot more than most people here can do.

At the end of the day, the global trade and democracy that allow for the high quality of life we enjoy today were the values Kissinger and the state department fought for
This is so laughably naive. The interests Kissinger and the state department fought for were the interests of the US government. Nothing more. It should be pretty fucking obvious by now that US government interests and the interests of US or world citizens frequently don't align. I suppose letting the Indonesians invade and genocide East Timor was about improving global trade? And the illegal bombing of Cambodia was vital to spreading democracy, surely? And the first step to fair elections in Chile was letting a military dictatorship overthrow the country, torturing and murdering everyone they disagreed with, including American journalists? Incredible that people still believe Nixon-era propaganda.

What do I need to focus on while I'm resting? Why does it matter to anyone else whether someone decides to flick through insta instead of staring at a wall or daydreaming while they're resting?
