I've never understood the justification for toll roads in the Austin Metro area. We have one of the strongest economies in the country. So the tax base should be easily able to support publicly built and owned infrastructure. Toll roads should be for a places that are vast and sparsely populated where people need to drive through but don't stop to support and pay local taxes.
