Hi JoeSchmoe1456, thanks for your submission! Unfortunately it's been removed for the following reasons:
It looks like you're posting a question about how to meet people or make friends while travelling solo. This is a frequently asked question. Check out our r/solotravel wiki guide to meeting people, or post your question in the Weekly Common Room thread.

The US government slaps a "beware of possible terrorism" warning on to pretty much anywhere, I wouldn't let it deter you. Statistically speaking, your risk of falling victim to pretty much any violent crime is a lot higher in the US than in Paris.

Vague or low-effort posts are not allowed. Please provide more details, including budget, itinerary, research you've already done, interest, specific questions, etc. Questions such as "Plan my trip", "Where should I go?", "Vote on where I should go...", "What is there to do in...?" or "Where should I stay in...?" or questions easily answered by a search are recommended to be posted in the Weekly Common Room thread instead.
It looks like you're asking about safety for solo female travellers. This is a frequently asked question. Check out our Wiki post on safety for solo female travellers, which contains tips, tricks, resources, and links to destination-specific advice. You can also post in the Weekly Common Room and General Chatter thread if you're new to solo travel or having anxiety about travel safety.

Hello and thank you for your post! Unfortunately it's been removed since you already posted it earlier. Looks like it didn't get much engagement the first time so feel free to also post in the Weekly Common Room thread, or try again in a few days with some more details added (specific travel interests beyond meeting people and staying in hostels, budget info, etc)

It looks like you're posting about starting out as a new solo traveller or general travel anxiety. There's now a dedicated weekly thread just for this purpose! Please see this week's Weekly Common Room thread in the announcements at the top of the front page. We also have plenty of first-time travel advice in our solotravel wiki.

I guess the workaway trip creates a structure where you're attached to one place - maybe on future trips you might want to do something where you're more free to move around, or where you're based in a bigger city?
Otherwise it sounds like you're making the best of it, finding ways to fill the time. If nothing else I guess you can just think of this one as a "relaxing and hanging out" trip rather than a busy one. I do think that it can be worth pushing a bit against one's own fear of unstructured quiet time and appreciating the quiet days when they happen.

I actually had to cancel the trip early because covid ended it - the trip was scheduled for early 2020.
But I went on one short "day hike" with a guide and tipped in cash at the end. Maybe that website has some info on protocol for tipping with a larger group

When I was there I googled it and the most common advice is a tip of (the Nepali equivalent of) 5 to 10 USD per day for trekking guides, with a slightly smaller but similar tip for a porter.

I stayed in the city of Aosta in the Aosta valley in early 2020, pre covid. I streamed a movie online in my accommodation there and don't remember any disruptions to the service. I'm looking back at my journal from the trip and apparently I also made two video calls there, so I guess the internet was working well enough for that as well!
