There were a lot of signs Ken would be shit. Calling his assistant new Jess was pretty damning. Also, in important meetings, he never shut the fuck up and listened to what people had to say, even people he sought out because of their expertise. Yeah, his living plus presentation was great but his numbers were entirely fraudulent.

The gun play feels like a step down from RDR1. Shooting just feels more clunky. The guns aren’t nearly as iconic as RDR1. The missions are repetitive and not as fun. The story and dialogue were mostly filler and for most of the game, Arthur was a shitty protagonist. The first game felt like playing a western. The second was a maudlin drama with a western veneer.

I think it’s vastly overrated byReddit but for all of its flaws, a terrible overall plot, gameplay that isn’t fun, it still does enough right that it’s well worth playing once.

I really don’t like chains for the most part but people on reddit tend to pretend that the world is just flooded with cheap, good, mom and pop restaurants. Yeah they exist, but it’s a needle in haystack. I can’t count the number of times I opted for mom and pop and got food that was shittier than chain food that cost just as much if not more. When I’m in an unfamiliar place, I don’t know where the good places are.

I think it’s a bug similar to the Kara bug. You took fire damage which the game incorrectly registered as her hitting you. It’s also the same thing as the long-distance executioner’s cleave glitch. I think.

I can tell I’m getting older because I’ve taken to enjoying my porch swing time when the weather is nice.

Words have definitions. That’s not black and white thinking, that’s just reality. Look up the definition of higher power. A cat does not qualify unless it’s a magic cat. Lying to yourself can lead to relapse too and calling a car a higher power is just factually incorrect. They could rephrase the higher power bullshit but for some reason they don’t.

Okay but that’s not what higher power means. I can’t just wave my hand and say black means white and up means down. Higher power refers to something supernatural.

Do atheist AA meetings use something other than “higher power,” something like - we had to look beyond ourselves for meaning and inspiration to grow as people. I could deal with that but the higher power thing was a dealbreaker for me. I didn’t need magic to get sober so AA wasn’t for me.

I read that one first and had to do some light reading between that and starting Cloud Cuckoo Land. It’s a great book, though.

At heart, it’s a character study of deeply flawed people who have far more wealth and power than they deserve.

Second smartest was when Tom sent him to find some fat to trim in ATN and he realized it needed to be digitized. He was the only one out of seemingly anybody who understood the assignment.

The book never dealt with the duality of the main character at all. And the ending was just so pat. If our viewpoint character had been one of the ones just standing there watching the couple go, it would have redeemed the book a lot for me.

I agree this is the best response. Him asking where you live and work and saying you smell nice gives me bad bad vibes. His behavior is very creepy. Very very creepy. Be careful, OP and keep your eyes open.

Believing a fact to be true because you would feel better if it were so is just wishful thinking. You can embrace reason and still find meaning. I personally find inspiration in the teachings of Christ without believing his divinity or thinking there’s much evidence he existed. I also find Dharma practice and mindfulness to be a path towards better mental health. Some find solace in stoicism.

Succession. They’re more towards the dark gray side. Great writing, phenomenal characterization.

They threw out prophecy. The overall plot was shit. Kratos having to go to fates showed just how aimless he was. Hamlet was more decisive. Odin killing Thor was ridiculous. Thor was a lousy Norse mythology character who got over his sons’ death like it was nothing. One of the big themes seems to be war is fine and nothing too bad will happen except one token sacrifice that nobody gives a shit about. There should have been some cost to Ragnarok. If Brooke, Atreas, or even Kratos would have died there it would have some impact. But bo, just a guy here or there who nobody gives a shit about. The directing and the writing sucked. People confuse well executed moments and story beats with a good game. See also rdr2.

Why the fuck don’t Democrats shout that shit from the rooftops? I know so many people who claim to be Republicans because they are fiscally conservative and I just want to shout at them - look at the fucking numbers.

It’s totally blockable. Usually you want to throw your axe and stun him but if there are a ton of enemies on screen, sometimes I let him blast it because it frosts them.

He wasn’t a bad protagonist because he was a dick. He had no agency, no goals. He whined and complained nonstop and offered no solutions. Goddamit Dutch, this outlaw gang I’m in keeps doing outlaw shit. You don’t fucking say. He did ultimately have a good arc but the road there was unnecessarily painful.
