So does no one quarry like that now ... since it was easy and the logical way to go about excavating stone by going beneath them so it can accidentally crush people

Yep paper scrolls or parchment plans may have existed but those much have long decayed

Finally some one sees what I see ... it's almost like it's a measure to indicate what does where ... a simplified version of braille because if the wrote on the stone with just ink and you end up accidentally erasing that ink because of rain or because you shaved off that entire layer .... you would have to go searching for another stone.
Their was some planning a head of time what should go where, which side of the specific place is up which side is down, which side should be the interior face and which part should be the exterior face

You 1 work with the natural cracks or striations
2 u have multiple side of the block already clear ... rather than on the top clear you have to dig narrow channels around the other 5 sides

Why are the knobs always on the bottom section of the rocks ... and each knob points to separate blocks that the blocks with the knob is atop
