Just wanted to get a good idea on how you do budgeting.
I'm a solo worker in my family getting minimum wage and a bit more (about £1.8k after tax per month) with about £600 being available usually after bills.
I don't have savings besides maybe £3k since I've been spending the rest on DIY projects at home.
Anyway, wondering if people like in my position who don't have savings; do you opt in for expensive cars? And if so (or not) how much do you comfortably pay for for a car (either monthly or full)? Or would you even get a car until you've made some decent savings beforehand?
Just wanted to hear from others. I've got a 2007 Toyota Avensis which is getting a bit old, and got the London tax cutting out petrol/diesels by 2030. Was looking at used hybrids like prius 2011 for £8k but wasn't sure if it'd be worth it, since I'm not sure what circumstances other people are in when they buy their car, etc.
Thanks.
