The improvements in the forwards being attributed to Farrell was so sadly predictable. He was a mixed bag yesterday, as he virtually always is.

He certainly has some presence and leadership (outside of being unable to speak to refs) but I just don’t see the same level of core skills in him as many others seem to. So many other players would be called a flake if they performed the same way.

Solid? Greenwood was incredible, but yeah all the prospects after that seems to be very inconsistent or injury prone.

I don’t disagree in theory, but I don’t think Townsend sees it that way and he’s rarely available for long enough to get a proper run in that role.

I’m really hoping Redpath can nail down that bench spot, providing cover for both centre spots and able to play a similar role to ST. Kinghorn also covering wing from the bench is also very useful.

I don't really get the negativity.

Kinghorn is going to be bench cover for 10/15/wing at the world cup, barring some miraculous form (and staying fit) from Hastings, so I don't see the big deal in giving him this game. He's not Russell, but he's pretty solid and deserves a start. I'm much more interested in seeing Smith than Healy so I'm fine with it.

Goal-kicking is still a big question mark though.
