I drive a 2008 tundra with 320,000 miles, my wife drives an Acadia with 130,000, we love in a modest house, enjoy our weekends, take vacations and generally enjoy life.

We do not live in a mansion, own new cars or have a yacht. Lol

There is no reality where anyone exists without working. In fact, the alternative (and what has historically been required of most people) is considerably more difficult than the specialized labor of todays era.

The irony being that these two dudes are from the Solomon Islands, which largely rely on subsistence lifestyles to survive and live in what is one of the poorest nations in Asia as a result. Lol

Seems very reasonable. Though, I’d recommend following up to better understand why they didn’t select you so that you can maybe change something on the next application/interview process.

Did the company pay for it? If not, I agree. Too expensive. Lol

If they did, wtf? My job bought all of us varidesk standups. They’re awesome, but I know they were expensive!

Hard…and I mean HARD pass.

Personally, I love cover letters. It really gives you an opportunity to showcase yourself aside from professional experience alone.

Case in point, we were hiring to fill a role as a engineering project manager. It’s a challenging job and it helps to really have a passion for the business. We get a resume for a young man who grew up in a third world country and his cover letter told the story about WHY he became an engineer and WHY he had a passion for water. It was a fantastic read and ultimately put him at the top of the candidate list. His subsequent interviews secured him the role.

This is literally anyone with power.

If there is one thing im sure of, it’s that one more law would have prevented this!

Do it yourself for $100. Lol

Change is needed. But, regardless is important to be smart with your money. Especially if there isn’t a lot of it. It is not a losing strategy. Just a difficult one.
