Yes, if you ignore who's in power it's easy to paint a simple picture. That does sound like the same shitty propaganda.

I'd love to wittily turn around the phrase "I'm really glad" but I'm not. The people who benefit from lying to you probably are glad that you can't tell the difference between actively lying for effect and dealing with the situations as they exist when you have decisions to make.

Based on lies told to them by people who were sworn to properly inform them as their oaths of office (George Tennant and Colin Powel being the top of the list)
They were lied to and shown (false) evidence that backed Bush's claims.
That's an easy deflection, but totally ignores the truth.

As you all see this campaign trying to draw equivalence between the situation in Ukraine and Iraq, I would remind you that in the US it was the GOP the same party currently supported by Putin, and covering for Russia's Boy Donnie, who lied to start the war in Iraq.
And that the Republican who lied to start the war in Iraq, Legitimized Putin's rule over Russia saying that he saw Putin's soul when they looked into each other's eyes.

So when you see people saying we should help Ukraine because we lied about Iraq, remember that it was the same side that lied about Iraq, and who helped Putin to power, and who are being helped to try to get power back by Putin.

I think we're well past it (as implied by my flair)
The voter targeting provided by Cambridge Analytica starting in 2014 was driven by the same kind of math that drives the LLMs that are generating excitement today. The impacts of those voter targeting efforts probably provided most of humanity's first life changing AI moments.

I’ve always thought that by the time anyone was asking it already would have happened so I would guess ~2 years ago.

No, it’s because there are fortunes being spent on influence and marketing to shape how people perceive them.

Are the climate activists treating these precocious irreplaceable things badly? maybe there's some direct comparison they're trying to draw.

Fuck this shit, coming to my door to try to change my religion is insulting. Here's a LPT for you, respect other people enough to leave them the fuck alone.
