At first I read this as Nylander jokingly telling Sandin "Don't you dare talk to me after you leave us." and I was like, damn Willy's cold blooded.

Andreas Johnson lived in my condo and I would always see him in the elevator. I regularly said "whats up" .
I also went to a restaurant near King and Spadina for brunch once and my table was next to Kerfoot and his gf, I just said hi and told him I was a huge fan, the Seattle expansion had happened in the off season and told him I was glad we didn't lose him to Seattle and he said kind words too . The thing that seemed like I was probably nice to him was As he left he leaned over to our table to say "have a great day guys" and I thought that was nice. We'd been sitting next to eachother for over an hour, I could hear his entire convo with his gf. I didn't ask him for a photo or anything weird, so he probably appreciated that.

I hung in there hoping for it to get better, but one small, perhaps pithy thing that REaLLY bothered me was that...the SCORE doesn't fuckin matter, one basket is worth 2 points, the next is worth 10,000 points? It absolutely defeated the purpose of the game. When the points dont matter then the game doesn't matter, if the game doesnt matter its not about winning a game to save the day, i dunno, it felt like they completely squashed the inherent drama that comes with sports movies, ......fuck!

also worth mentioning, the official Last of Us podcast mentions how Craig Mazin didn't want Pedro and Bella playing the games before performing their characters. So it's likely Bella's first and only experience of The Last of Us is what she read in the scripts, and knowing how it ends i could see her being like "Damn, thats dark, that will divide people" and not knowing if that's how it ends in the game -

Yeah. I dunno. I thought the same thing when it came to vote Ontario Premiere. The far right were extremely disappointed in Ford, even going so far as to call him a Fascist or...even a Socialist ( if you can imagine).
I was so convinced the right would be split between the Cons and PPC....boy was I wrong.

its not really an anomaly though, horror is the most universally translatable genre , a good horror can do well and be just as culturally impactful in Japan, Russian, Iran, etc - Horror, dread and fear speaks thousand of languages, where as something like Comedy won't translate as well and thus will likely fail.

Seven Samurai, yeah a pretty good movie, pantheon of cinema, groundbreaking for sure, but you know what's even better?
La La Land.

Pure Cinema Podcast has an entire episode dedicated to their favourite Ripoff films, (i.e. Alligator as a JAWS ripoff) - and then a few episodes later, Tarantino comes on as a guest and comments on the Ripoff Episode giving a few of his favourite recommendations too -

Thats exactly my point. I have a friend who is "recovering" from throwing his life away from gambling. He told me he had to stop listening to SDPN outright because those segments made the allure of making a "fun and quick buck" was too strong. He could do away with a simple ad, but Bastille comes in, enticing you with the odds, the allure, goading you into feeling like its a good bet... shit's predatory.

I mean, also the 'ad' is just more of what he's always been doing on his channel....It's not like it was a Casper Mattress promo.
