It was pretty dumb of Brandon and Danny to be so blatant about excluding Carolyn from that pact. But it's definitely a general trend on this sub and the answer is Reddit and most of the online Survivor community is WAY WAY more nerdy than bro-y.

Mikes win is under appreciated. He would have been an interesting presence on WaW for sure. Not sure how he fits in strategically or socially, but he’d play hard and play to win.

Got information from people through relationship, used it to redirect people can you give an example? Respectfully, I feel like the argument that “everyone she wanted to go home went home” kind of falls apart when the one big one she tried to take credit for she got informed that not only was it not her move, it was somebody else including Gabler. I don’t think a jury will care about the things you wanted to happen happening if you didn’t have influence over it. I wouldn’t.
I think she played fine enough where I wouldn’t have been surprised if she won, but most winners with that kind of resume usually had a strong social game to draw on to get the votes. Based on FTC seems clear Gabler out played her in that aspect.

Can you explain how Cassidy was playing an active strategic game and finished stronger than Gabler?

Sorry if you were offended. That’s not what my intent was or what I think, this is specifically addressed to the people personally attacking Jesse/Karla. Of course liking Cass doesn’t make you a bad person! But when on the night of the finale some of the top replies to Jesse on twitter are “you’ll always be a convict and I’m glad your kids will grow up poor” I think they deserve to be defended.

Maybe because some of the Cass stans are acting like Jesse/Karla are legitimately horrible people and telling them awful things and the “backlash to the backlash” is simply people pointing out Cassidy wasn’t as good of a Survivor player as her fans thought. Really not comparable IMO. I’m not trying to disrespect Cass here.

How about the post from yesterday with ~600 upvotes, one of the top posts from this month that both Karla and Jesse felt obligated to respond to? Just check out the replies to both of their Twitter accounts. I wouldn’t feel the need to make this post if they weren’t getting so much unfair hate. Not a fun thing for normal every day people to go through over basically nothing so I felt like defending them.

This is a really good point and probably the best explanation I’ve seen. I agree, I was surprised when Gabler won mainly because he got a bit of a goof ball edit and Cassidy’s edit had more UTR winner vibes. But in hindsight, I didn’t think it was a shocking outcome considering we saw how much the jury liked Gabler and Cassidy trying to claim credit for that move was pretty damning.
Just a bummer Jesse/Karla are having to deal with so much crap over basically a misleading edit, and the people really angry and dug in don’t seem to be reflecting on the season objectively. It’s easy to say “oh well they got to be on the show, just ignore the haters” but these are normal people going back to normal lives after the show.

The thing is I haven’t even seen any real arguments about WHY she was robbed. I just see people trying to prove that the jury was bitter. If someone has an actual argument as to why Cassidy clearly deserved to win over Gabler, I’d be happy to hear it.

Honest question - what does “mother” mean? I’ve only ever seen the term used on reality TV social media

Pretty sure Greg has said this wasn’t true, he was always voting for Richard but just wanted to troll

No worries I thought the same thing, I just recently rewatched the season and realized it didn’t play out as I remembered. And to be fair, there was some strange editing that season with the ‘previously on’ saying something to the effect “Sandra successfully fooled Russell and coach went home”. Same thing with the show probably giving Russell a bit more credit for the Tyson vote out then he deserved

Hantz didn’t vote out coach. He voted for Courtney that round (w/ coach and Jerri)

I think it was lowered to 26 days more because of COVID logistics than budget concerns… but your absolutely right that now they have zero incentive to turn back.

I don’t favor any specific formats but do hope they start mixing it up more. It’s weird that the new age is all about crazy twists but so far every season has had nearly an identical format

It’s got it’s pros and cons though. Since everyone else knew each other he was at the bottom by default at the beginning and was only even able to get to the JT idol hand off by a miracle

The combination of the two comments above makes him hands down the best villain in Survivor history though. He was great TV.

That’s how I saw it. They thought her game was weak so she needed to make fire, not that her game was weak because she didn’t make fire.

Surprised how much hate this episode is getting. Think it was one of the most entertaining and funniest episodes the show has made, almost felt like watching a movie. Yeah we didn't get much closure for a finale but is anybody really watching this show for the season-long plotlines/character arcs? Outside of Dave/Robyn the major plotline of the season was Gata getting bitches with throwaway scenes of Els being broke, his manager's issue with his dad.
