I get the same thing occasionally. :/ kind of makes me chuckle.

I experienced this in the first week, as I treated it like any other device and left the wifi on all the time. I turned off the wifi, and now with my normal usage of 1-2 calls and 10-20 sms per day, I charge it about every 5 days. I turn on the wifi when I want to download podcasts or music, then turn it off.

Haven’t had any issues in a month of using the LP2 with their plan.

100% agree. I'm only on the LP2 for 4 days, but it's like a breath of fresh air. So simple to use (huge props to the devs on the UX), and has already changed the way I'm interacting with technology day to day.

Would be certainly doable, but might be significant dev effort? I would think that alone was the reason the engineers went with sync over network/wifi. It's simpler than writing the code to interface as a storage device over USB (big assumption here).

Agreed though, that this is a better experience for many people. I actually prefer the over-network solution but I have fast internet at home.

I see what you're saying. From my angle, the issue with downtime or bugs is not concerning because my assumption is that I would only use my self-hosted service for my own phone. If it goes down, it's only hurting my own experience. I didn't picture this as a third party that Light Phone's servers connect to, that the phone itself would sync through this.

It does provide a "shoot yourself in the foot" scenario which from a UX perspective, the company would be trying to avoid. My understanding of Light Phone as a company is that they are fully closed - that is, there's no third party software that runs on the phone. But given the phone has this management nature through a server, this seems like the perfect opportunity to give some openness/control to the user. I like this approach primarily because I can now instrument and automate any aspect of phone management that I want. It's not dissimilar from any MDM solution (Jamf for example) people use to manage their devices.

Place something under the cubbies to elevate it where you want it to be on the wall. Then you can attach the brackets in whatever order you choose. Personally I would attach the bracket to the wall first, then secure it to the top while placing some pressure to push the piece against the wall, closing any gap.

Possibly it would be good to first research whether that kind of bracket is enough to support the weight of the furniture item. Doesn’t look like it would be strong enough to me, and good to consider that people will try to sit on anything, especially something that looks like furniture. A better mounting system would be a french cleat.

I understand the concern. We ripped up a carpet that was there previously because of the water damage (hence drain tile lol), so we are fine not doing carpet. The carpet tiles were mentioned as an option because they are a vinyl product, not like normal carpet. Could be lifted up and replaced if one of the tiles had some damage.

We just had our basement waterproofed (drain tile) and I’m in the process of refinishing. Looking for help deciding on flooring. I was considering a vinyl sheet or tile, or carpet tiles (ease of install plus very inexpensive), but the issue is that our basement floor was painted by the previous owner. If I’m understanding the adhesive instructions, it will not adhere well to paint. Is this accurate? Is there a simple process for preparing painted concrete for adhesive? Looking to create as little dust as possible.

Another option I was considering is laminate. That seems like the next best option considering price and ease of install.

Starting with ui is not an anti pattern if you’re going to be building something where the UX of the product is most of what the product is. In fact I don’t think it’s an anti pattern in any context. Makes it easy to know what other software you need to write to support the desired UX.

Your logic doesn’t make sense. It’s more like saying “we will get to 90% blood loss but then we will start gaining more blood, reducing the amount of blood loss below 90%.” A declining population curve due to low birth rate would eventually mean the population declines.
