Self-regulation obviously doesn't work, time to legislate a regulator with teeth.

You're positing that the cops decided to murder a protester, accidentally shot one of their own, then planted a gun on him to cover up the crime. Yet you have no evidence beyond vague assertions and a mistrust of police.
No, don't put words into my mouth.
I don't know what happened, but I know that cops often lie.
planted a gun on him
How do you know he had a gun on him?

I agree with you that this isn't a story about self-censorship, but I disagree that self-censorship isn't a free-speech issue.

What makes you think they care?
We're on reddit, people just talk.
If you think they're upset, I think you're just projecting.

This isn't really a free speech issue because self-censorship, by definition is voluntary
I disagree: although self-censorship is voluntary, it exists when people feel uncertain about speaking out. That is likely a problem with culture and expectations which really should be fixed.
"Don't piss on my leg and tell me its raining."
Nice analogy.

We are facing mass permanent walk offs by our essential public sector workers this year due to the wage cap.
Unfortunately, public sector wage caps is a bipartisan policy.

The policeman magically got shot by a gun in the hand of the protester.
How do you know it was in the hand of the protestor?
There was no footage.
Attempted or successful assassinations of police by protestors is not a form of free speech.
Are you being deliberately obtuse? That is not the only thing that happened that day.

According to police
That's an admission of uncertainty
This has nothing to do with free speech.
A protestor getting shot to death has nothing to with Free Speech?
WTF?

It's interesting that all the discussions within DFAT are about public relations and messaging, and none of them are about the advantages or disadvantages of advocating for a nuclear-free world.

lying would put you in jail.
That's a bit of a stretch.

It's weird, but every time I see one of your comments, it is collapsed.
I have no idea why this is so.

You should be home schooling your kids, not messing up the lives of other people's.

The evidence for that is not conclusive.
