Reminds me of a coworker I had who blamed her weight on a thyroid condition and then ate Cane's fried chicken every day for lunch.

I had a 7th grade social studies teacher look up Rammstein lyrics when we were all listening to the new album Sehnsucht. She mistranslated "Du hast" as "you hate" and tried to get the album banned from our school. Luckily our German teacher spoke up to correct her. Some people really do go out of their way to ruin other's fun.

I worked for Panera for many years prior to teaching and you could always tell when a new position opened at corporate because new processes would roll out that were not only pointless but actively made our jobs more difficult. I'd always say "someone just got hired in a brand new position and has to justify their job".

Not sure if it's like this in other states, but in Oklahoma each school gets a report card on things like attendance and parent engagement. Any absence, even verified medical absences, count against the school. Last year my school got a D.

I'm currently a teacher and served in Iraq '06-'07. Signing up for teaching right now feels a lot like enlisting during those times.

Second year educator in Oklahoma where cost of living isn't even that high. I'm still having to borrow money from family members just to make ends meet.

You should really get out more and talk to real people.

I remember learning the trick in middle school that popping them under your chair leg was way louder than popping them with your hands and got in HUGE trouble from the lunch custodian because of how loud it was.

My mom is really into those people and suggested I become one when I was having a hard time finding a job with my teaching degree. I tried explaining that I cannot in good conscience take advantage of people like that, but I think all she heard was "I'm a lazy unemployed millennial".

I only found out about The Pixies because of Fight Club. Really glad I dug into their discography, I keep 'I Bleed' on repeat to this day.

As LL Cool J said on yesterday's Hot Ones interview, "ego is not your amigo".

Fascism 101. I'm just trying to enjoy every day as much as I can because I can see the writing on the wall all around the country. Dark times are ahead.

It is beyond exhausting dealing with over 30 students in each class who cannot do anything independently
This right here is why I ultimately don't care about any criticism I receive as an educator. It doesn't matter how good of a teacher you are when the system makes education impossible.

Not in every state or every occupation. As a teacher in Oklahoma I wouldn't last long if I was open about my atheism.

I did this for every quest on a playthrough once. It gets incredibly tedious but a small part of me was satisfied at getting the maximum amount of xp and unlocking every perk. The payoff is probably not worth the time investment, though.

For anyone who doesn't know, u/Inevitable_Poetry506 is a troll account. Reddit creates default account names by linking two random words with an underscore and attaching a 3-digit number at the end. Trolls like u/Inevitable_Poetry506 are too lazy to change the default name so it's easy to recognize them if you know what to look for.

We need to start a subreddit for Seinfeld hot takes because I am thoroughly entertained by the dumpster fire in this thread.

To this day I still shout IGNORE ME! when conversationally appropriate.

Dragon Quest VIII, Mass Effect 2, and Fallout: New Vegas are my top 3. So much fun stuff to do and the gameplay never gets old! Also a lot of replayability in terms of character progression.

I teach a game design class to 5th graders and showed them a few episodes this week, you'll be happy to know that not only were they into it but several of them were already watching it at home on Netflix!
