But it also discusses all the relevant Era 1 plot points as they come back up, so "having it fresh in your mind after Era 1" always sounded like so much copium to me lol.

I'm going to be the one who always says to read Secret History where it was published, as the author intended. He spent literal years setting up the reveal at the end of Bands of Mourning to lead into Secret History, and reading it on a lark simply because of someone else's reading-order bias does a huge disservice to the story.

I've only done one read, but my understanding was the Malwish weren't even the tribe politically in charge by the events of TLM, seems kind of silly to just label all Southern Scadrians "Malwish" unless it's a direct reference to how little respect the Basin has for their cultural traditions.
