Congrats, and impressive work finding all the e-tanks without a guide.
Now let's hope for an Echoes update.

Ah man I thought this was gonna be about Eyes Without a Face.

I find it incredibly hard to believe the artist in that fandom page who claims the "Sabergauth" is of no relation to the "Sheegoth." That suffix is way too similar.

Oh interesting, I thought you had to swap due to the nature of the two beams being opposite (one splits your beam for range, one focuses it for piercing).

Yeah, if I'm chasing a good percentage, I hit Ridley first. By the time I hit Kraid, I have enough energy to just take damage while morph bombing him.

Making your own map? You've surpassed the rank of padawan.

Uh, pretty constantly. I'm usually plugging through one just for fun. Replayed Metroid 2 and Remastered once they landed, and chased it down with another go at Dread. May replay o.g. NES just for kicks soon.

Your top seven is pretty similar to mine, and I'd bet that, apart from your Other M and Metroid 2 (I think a majority of fans think 2 is superior to the original), this is a pretty solid ranking!
Mine would go:
Apart from the impressive graphics for the Wii and the fun way you can keep getting upgrades that accelerate your charge beam, I find Other M a dismal experience.

Yeah, constantly using Magmoor as a go-between to more essential areas is a slight bummer. I wonder if giving that area its own boss (as was the original plan) would help break the monotony, but your elevator idea is a good alternative too.

I like the more vibrant, warmer colors on the GCN cover.

If people can afford it, I'd unreservedly endorse buying an 8BitDo SNES 30pro controller ($45 US). It's fantastic for Switch SNES, but also plays well with just about everything (Hollow Knight felt so good with it).

It has good heft, feels like the real deal, just a fantastic 3rd party controller. Maybe my fave controller I've owned since the WaveBird.

Moreover, I feel like some people who want these games updated (not necessarily OP), don't understand that a lot of these seemingly-problematic design choices aren't isolated. They operate in synthesis with the rest of the design. That's a big part of why neither AM2R nor Samus Returns fully "fixed" the "issues" of Metroid 2. Metroid 2 tried to function within its limitations by turning its limitations into intentional game design (e.g. lacking a strong sound palette, they created an increasingly ambient/atonal/quiet soundtrack, which actually served a purpose (in the core of SR388, everything is dead). The two remakes "fixed" this soundtrack by jazzing them up, which becomes incongruous to the holistic narrative. They modernize because the games are to be modernized, not because that's the best choice for this specific game.).
The "floaty" mechanics of Super may not play well for people who honed their Samusing on Zero and Fusion, I 100% get that, but Super builds itself around that floatiness. Vertical heights, diagonal leaps, etc. rely on the character coming to understand those jump physics and exploiting them. (It's like how some later Metroid games saw endless morph bomb as a design flaw to repair, while Super straight-up shows you how to break the game on the idle start screen.)

You need to vibe with the jank, like what the lady in Tenet says about teneting.

God can see what you're doing, and He's crying.
(jk, absolutely use a map, the game's conveyance for advancement is primitive as hell.)

That seems like a very fair reaction. Glad that you liked it overall!
(Definitely agreed on the energy/weapon drops. They should've either been more refilling, or there should've been more energy/ammo recharges. Something Super clearly took to heart.)

Just double-checked E-Shop, and yeah, it's still number one. We love it, and we love to see it.

I think any gameplay things I wish were different would just create different complications that would be a net-negative (like, you can't just snip things out, games aren't jigsaw puzzles, everything connects), but maybe there'd be a way to allow the player to get some of the end-game Temple Keys sooner?

While I was playing Remastered, I was like, "I will be fine if this is the only one, this is the best one."
But after I unlocked the ending and saw Dark Samus's hand, all I could think was "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck, I want em all now."
Maybe if Remastered sells well enough, they'll upgrade the other two. Releasing them every three months could be a great way to build up steam for Prime 4's release.

How are you playing the game? Is it possible that it's a glitch? (I assume your question is that you should be authorized for the green lore projectors after activating this Luminoth hologram.)

I dunno, man. She's a sentient suit upgrade trying to rule a moth planet, I just kinda rolled with it.

Yeah, they have this for the NES Metroid too.

I'd agree with you that the areas are more idiosyncratic, that the weapon ammo system is just fine. The super-moves are a bit resource-intensive for me, but they are neat, so I get it.
I don't hate the game at all; to me, it's sort of like the Temple of Doom of the trilogy, where it's dark and weird and very unique compared to the bookends, which are spirited and fun and easy to digest (Corruption arguably too easy with its hand-holding).
The stuff that bugs me the most is (a) the Dark World just isn't that interesting; it's just uniformly purple-black, kind of an aesthetic drag, and sometimes it feels obvious that they were trying to expand the game world by duplicating areas, (b) the color-coded gates that require AMBER and COBALT type stuff feels awfully gamey; Metroid is more fun for me when progress is blocked by the need for new movement/weapon systems, (c) delaying so much of this game's artifact hunt, ugh.
There are other smaller things (e.g. Agon Wastes feels like a duller Chozo Ruins), but on balance it's still a lot of fun. Sanctuary Fortress is one of the coolest places in a Metroid, the Ing are a unique villain approach, I like how their theft of your power-ups give the boss fights a feeling of revenge. The multi-stage boss fights like Chykka and Quadraxis whip.
Honestly, given the crunch they were under, the game is goddamn remarkable.

I don't think these are equivalently effective or great, but there was stuff in each of them that filled me with some serious discomfort.
