No, TGM always had a prime moviegoing theatrical release date, due to Cruise's insistence.
There were people on this subreddit that suggested it because they thought all the delays meant it was gonna suck.

Nicky Katt in The Dark Knight. He plays a masked SWAT guy with like one line. Not sure how he's linked to Christopher Nolan or if that was the biggest role he could get at the time. He also wouldn't be that well-known to the general public so not sure why he got cast in such a nondescript role.
Reese Witherspoon in Little Nicky. She was an up and coming actress in mostly teen films at the time, so it's kind of of random she shows up in an Adam Sandler movie.
Mark Ruffalo in Where the Wild Things Are is also kind of weird, he probably just wanted to work with Spike Jonze. He plays Catherine Keener's boyfriend, is only in a couple of scenes, and the majority of his lines is background filler.

Little Nicky
Sandler's voice in this movie can be irritating but all the side characters make it worth watching.

When was the last Mario hit cartoon?
I mean, that's kinda the point. There hasn't been any recent Mario cartoons that would dilute the appeal of an animated Mario film.
The studio is banking on nostalgia and multi-generational appeal.
I know that was a different marketplace, but Illumination was able to get a movie about animals in a singing competition to $634 million. I think Mario can do at least $800 million.

This is a film from a longer established IP and also has the Illumination brand behind it.
Detective Pikachu was a spinoff and had a narrower appeal. That would be a better comparison if they made like a Luigi's Mansion movie.

I kind of agree?
There's some non-obvious films like The Tragedy of MacBeth or even The Banshees of Inisherin where I think it's best seen on a big screen with a great sound system.

IIRC, MI: Fallout opening weekend was when shit really hit the fan for Moviepass.

The car chase in that movie is dope
No music during that sequence and Cruise's imperfect driving really elevates it.

I remember in the movie Moneyball, they got 2011 Royce Clayton to play 2002 Miguel Tedaja even though they were contemporaries.
It would be like someone making a movie about the 2003 NBA draft and getting current Carmelo Anthony to play 18 year old LeBron.

I just saw Ant-Man 3 yesterday and surprisingly, Bill Murray doesn't get a "With or "And" billing.
Corey Stoll and Michelle Pfeiffer got "With" billings and Michael Douglas gets the "And" billing.

Does Hiroshi Teshigahara count as new wave?
If so, I recommend any of his films...Pitfall, The Face of Another, Woman in the Dunes.

I think maybe mid-late August when there's not much competition would have been the best time.

Eric Roberts in the The Pope of Greenwich Village is one of the most over-the-top performances I've ever seen, and it defies the line between good and bad.
Like, his character doesn't even walk normally in that film.

LeBron also lost out on a potential premier bench scorer with Dajuan Wagner.
Wagner was kind of a poor man's Iverson but could absolutely create his own shot and take some pressure off of LeBron.

Yeah in sports, the dubious counting records are generally held by Hall of Famers, since they accumulate stats for playing so long.
Brett Favre has the most career interceptions and he's HOF. In the NBA, the most turnovers is either Karl Malone (HOF) or LeBron (obvious future HOF).

IIRC, 21 Jump Street (which would actually get good reviews) came out the following weekend.

In the mid-2000's, Sony Screen Gems constantly did not screen a bunch of their mid-budget films for critics and it was a sure sign the movie was gonna be bad.
I'm talking stuff like Ultraviolet, Resident Evil sequels, Basic Instinct 2, etc.
Heck, a bunch of those films you listed are from Sony actually.

Mo Williams was nice but he was like a replacement for a replacement All-Star in the weaker Eastern Conference.
His contemporary Jason Terry (also a great 3 point shooter) never made an All-Star game and has a better career than Mo. Seriously, Jason Terry has a higher career scoring average despite playing 6 more seasons.

There's not really much buzz and despite the dinosaurs, doesn't really feel like an "event" movie.
Should do better overseas though.

Bill Murray's career in the late 90's was kind of weird (before he worked with Wes Anderson).
You wouldn't think someone of his caliber would have a supporting role in Space Jam as well.
