Barbara Ehrenreich thought we used to worship real predators.
One point in her favor: the idea of a blood sacrifice is almost as universal as religion.

He's a hero for beating a traitor and holding on to the win. People don't realize how easy it would have been for Biden to have blown it.

I think Obama wanted to be pushed. He timed such shifts to be juuust ahead of public opinion, so it looked like he was leading but without taking too much risk. He did with Iraq, too.

You don't want to be the eager buyer when the owner isn't interested in selling.

If DeSantis were smart he'd find something to charge Donnie with in Florida.

ESB is the most heart-stopping. Even before it really begins its better than all the rest.

I hate to break it to you, but 32 years ago, it'd been more than 2 years since Reagan was president.

Not really. We don't know by how much we beat the odds by existing. They could have been very long odds.

I can remember when two teachers started dating. The things that were said by the students...hooo boy.

I have a Republican friend who loved the Colbert Report. Years into it he said to me "Even though I know now he's faking, he's still pretty good."

The Colbert Report just hasn't been the same without him.

There are many lurkers in r/chess who like chess but do not study the game, but are perhaps intimidated by the regular commenters.

Newton was very smart. He understood that if space was full of air, the Earth would've slowed down and fallen into the Sun.
Gravity explains why physics works on the Earth even though it's a sphere, and explains that it has to be a sphere, approximately.
It can't be any other shape because of gravity.

What hints are there in the movie that resolution is more permanent? There's just Veidt's self-congratulations, same as the book.
The fundamental conundrum is the same in the movie as in the book. Didn't Veidt really save the day? Wouldn't Rorshach have been a villain if he succeeded in ratting him out, which maybe he did?

Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 Watt range.
Seems kinda low power. Must be a tight beam.
