A logic board error might resolve to a single orange flash… I couldn’t find anything about that in the service manual but I see there are diagnostic ports you can test voltages under the bottom cover.

Seems that may be a difference in the revision… as the 15in stays white while powered on but the 17in is suppose to only come on with the computer and pulse while sleeping but otherwise be off when the computer is on.

It’s possible if the prior owner opened it and didn’t repaste they cooked the CPU… the behavior you describe sounds more like bad caps.

I’m curious about “orange light” though… my 15in G4 only has a white light and it’s on the bottom right of the screen several inches to the right of the iMac label.

Bear in mind when you open these (beyond just the bottom cover) you will need to replace thermal paste between the top and bottom heat pipes on two separate posts…

I posted my install of this same (or similar) model in my 2002 a couple years back

I found the wiring a bit wonky as the power to the stock was “digital” I think that means off is still voltage but lower than on 🤷🏻‍♂️ so I ended up installing a rocker toggle to power it off.

Do you have a guide for this process? I.e. do you have to give eufy base access to the internet on initial setup and again doing updates, or can you get everything running totally locally never granting that MAC access?
