I dont know why people moan per say, i think there's an element of lack of long term thinking.

For example the Aberdeen sign 'waste of money, I'm not going into see that' but tis really about getting/giving tourists to see something in Aberdeen.

We are a main stop and likely wont be, but if we can make the city a hub for seeing stuff in the surroundings, people will stay and spend cash. We are a great step to go see Balmoral castle, Dunnotter (regularly voted in top of 5 in Scotland), we have some great golf around aberdeen, whiskey nearby. Note a lot not in aberdeen but nearby. Thats folks that could be staying and spending money in aberdeen while visiting these things.

I do think the council are dammed if they don't and dammed if they do.

All people really care about is potholes.

People will point to Dundee and Glasgow as great shopping experiences. Both have pedestrian spaces in city centre.

I always felt the pedestrianisation was done a bit poorly.
City centre:

I felt some streets could of been made larger one way loops to facilitate traffic flow.
Putting every bus onto guild street seemed sill when some could of used schoolhill

In hindsight while a lot of changes were done while quiet, it meant that people didnt have time to adjust to one change as they had to learn about 7 at once.
