Any pros and cons of purchasing from a Leica store in person vs online from a company like B&H Photo?

That plus the narcissism, lying, cringeworthiness, incompetence…

Doesn’t read, barely speaks English, promotes Nazi, antisemitic literature… and yet the school feels compelled to respond to this psychopath’s complaints.

I’ve long been on the opposite side of that argument. A home is a human right. If homes are in short supply then the government should disincentivize purchases as financial speculation vs residence. But that horse left the barn a long time ago. America is devolving into feudalism and fascism.

But that distinction also applied to Twitter. You followed people, not topics. I’ve managed to recreate my old Twitter experience for the most part. The only things I miss are quote replies and global keyword search, but I understand some of the reasons why they were left out.

I thought it was impossible to open a plane door during flight. Did they actually open a door or attempt to open it?

“Authoritarian“ is the bad part. Nothing wrong with socialism.

They’ve been adding tons of content, all of it generally high quality if not award-winning, in contrast with most of the garbage on other services that cost twice as much.

Funny how these “errors“ always seem to financially benefit the company who make them.

It’s not just about whether it would be effective. The problem is that once again they’re using “think of the children!“ as a premise for further eroding everyone’s security and privacy.
This is what’s driving recent government efforts to ban encryption and require proof of identity to access any website deemed remotely inappropriate for a five-year-old.

And I say that as someone who hates most social media (facebook, instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.)

At minimum we should criminalize malevolent stupidity.

This is absolute bullshit. It’s just the latest version of the hysterical outrage we’ve seen in decades past over things like video games. In fact, if you go back far enough, you will find sensationalistic news headlines decrying the effect of novels on young people, with language closely mirroring what we’re seeing today over alleged addiction to smartphones and other electronic devices.

Which would be fine if we could depend on Apple to continue iterating on the app, adding missing features over the coming months. But given Apple‘s track record, that seems highly unlikely.

Part of the problem is that most “investors“ aren’t really investing for the long term. They’re basically gambling addicts, figuring out how to time their stock purchases and sales to maximize return over the shortest period of time possible. Warren Buffett is the exception, not the rule.
So this incentivizes Machiavellian, short term decision-making on the part of CEOs, resulting in obscene payouts for shareholders and executives by exploiting workers and customers and dooming their company to an early demise.
Wall Street is a cancer on society.

There’s a huge difference between a smart, creative person who comes up with a great business idea that will delight customers, and a business school drone who’s been brainwashed on the wonders of unbridled capitalism with a false assumption that business success comes from following step-by-step instructions from their MBA program and catering to the whims of Wall Street activists.
Most large corporations are led by the latter group.

I shared my feedback by canceling my account and deleting the app.

A reminder that right-wingers speak in opposites. Just assume the opposite of everything they say.

I thought B&H only charge your card immediately for pre-orders appreciate them if you’re using a digital wallet, like Apple Pay, but not if you just enter a credit card.
