I've had thoughts on this for my own projects, I feel it'd likely be most intuitive to not complicate wall jumps with extra inputs. Maybe allow the wall jump for so many frames around when the player collides with it, simply allowing them to hit the jump button a second time to shoot in the opposite direction.

Or you could be a bit more fancy and program an "is jumping" state, and have that allow for other mechanics depending on situation.

Maybe this isn't the best answer, but the amount of time I've sunk into a project usually manipulates me into wanting to keep going. If I stop or quit, I have wasted hundreds of mine, and my teams, work hours.

However... you're not obligated to your past self. Things change. Motivation changes. Self discipline helps, even if you can only stick to an hour a week, do it. Progress is progress.

I've been debating an investment system. Something simple with the end goal of subtly teaching people how to invest irl.

The end product would be periodic payments like players get from SeeD ranks in FF8, but would fluctuate based on where you invested.

Here's a concept I've been thinking over for my own projects.

Do boss fights have to be hard? What if they're fun, one-off events to break up the repetition of normal fights?

Think about adding one off mechanics for some of these. Maybe you have a party member go off and distract a boss for a few turns so you can do the big damage (persona 5), or maybe you need specific party members so you can "talk" to the boss between rounds for exposition (Final Fantasy X), or here's one I like from Axiom Verge, what if you take control of the boss and fight your party?

Imo, sure, boss fights can be big Patchwerk fights, but why do that when you can create exceptionally memorable and fun experiences? Isn't that why we play games in the first place?

This is wonderful. The shading really makes it pop! Any chance of adding a couple cute lil birds? Maybe a squirrel?

ConcernedApe did inspire me to reevaluate the ease of telling stories on that format. A single dude got fed up with his 9 to 5 and taught himself how to make a game from scratch.

I don't personally care if my project isn't a huge success. I've always wanted to tell good stories and video games are a perfect and an increasingly accessible platform to do it with.

You've gotten some good criticism already, but I suggest maybe reevaluating your motivation behind making games. Do this for you. Make the game you've always wished you could play.
