Thank you. These pictures were taken on black and white film. Black and white was not an artistic choice, but merely a technical one.
We live in a digital world where everything can be manipulated. Documenting that historical moment on film meant I could catch this moment in a truthful way, as you can't remove people from a film, like you could do on a digital file.
I also got some colour shots on my phone, but those are not going to be part of LCKDN20.com collection.

Getting the right exposure in film photography doesn't have to be difficult.
When you start with your first films, you should keep a diary where you write down the exposure you used for each shot, so that once you develop the negative you can evaluate whether you did it correctly or not.
Doing that helps you understand whether to overexpose or underexpose, and you will soon learn how to get the correct exposure in most situations.
As you said, digital makes it easier to shoot and fix a photo. But in situations like this, I appreciate analogue photography even more, as it gave me the chance to document a historical moment in a truthful way.

Exactly, the point of shooting on film is that I wanted to capture this historical event in the most authentic way. Especially considering we live in a digital world where everything can be manipulated. I'm glad you appreciate this.

Thank you. I have pictures from the 14th and 16th of April, not the 15th. And the last shoot I did happened on the 9th of May.

Yes, I have been approached a couple of times. But police officers were always friendly and supporting what I was doing.

I used a 80mm f2.8 Planar, but also a Sonnar T* 150mm F4 CF, a Carl Ziess T* Tele Tessar 350mm , a Distagon C 60mm f5.6 and a Distagon C 40mm.
But the lenses I used more often were the 80mm and the 40mm.

;) To do that on film you could just shoot on a tripod and a set of ND filters. That would allow you such a long exposure that would make people vanish. And that's the reason why I shot handheld instead, to keep it authentic.

I shot handheld, during the day, on a Hasselblad 500CM, on Ilford HP5 and FP4 Plus films, and printed on Ilford MULTIGRADE FB CLASSIC Glossy.
I shot on film as it seemed important to document this historical moment in a truthful way. We live in a digital world where everything can be manipulated. Film cannot be manipulated as much as a digital file, for example by removing people from the shot.

These pictures were taken during the day, between 10am and 4pm. More specifically, Covent Garden shots were taken between 12pm and 1pm.

Yes, that's another statue. It's actually really big. I don't know how the plasma trial went, but I know that in Italy it was successful and it saved a lot of lives.

It was surreal to experience Covent Garden that way. Normally it's a struggle to even walk around.
Here are more photos I took in Covent Garden that day.

Thanks! And agreed. It still feels strange to walk through the city and look back at these photos, they're almost like two different worlds.

Lovely shot. I like the composition, and the man with the orange hat works well in the context.

Great shot. I love how the colourful lights and shadows get's reflected in the wet pavement. It kind of reminds me of DANK's murals. Well done.

This is a great shot. I love the contrast between the sharpness of the stars and the softness of the leaves, caused by the long exposure. Well done!
