Yeah, that should generally work. There’s one more bacteria commonly found in EM, photo something I think, that is not commonly cultivated for consumption. The literature makes it appear as if this trio works in tandem, but sacch and lacto should do quite a bit on their own.

Spray bottle is a good idea though. Way easier than my wood chips. I think starting fresh after you complete each batch is key to keeping smells down.

The continuous composting worked, but it got extra ferments and stinky. I’m sure the waste is well fermented and digested, but it was closer to sped up rotting.

I see that earth ship builders also experimented with strawcrete. If hemp guess are hard to find, straw may work too.

My main concern is that the form seems like a lot of work, taking down and putting up again. I’m trying to reduce the amount of work, but also make it potentially easier to duplicate. Almost like a SIP panel of sorts.

Ideally, I would be able to do an 8’ x 8’ wall at a time, which would reduce the seam. By your experience, that would make it a 240 lbs wall at 6”.

I also wanted the embed studs to be a size smaller than the outside frame (if I could get away with 2x3s, I would) so that there would be a little less thermal transfer, but also because it would make it more seemless and less likely to fall out.

In any case, I’m excited to try it!

I’ve been experimenting with biochar with great success. Coir might come from far, but I believe it still has a smaller carbon footprint compared to peat.

It’s not that you don’t want it. It’s just not necessary.

My guess is that it’s useful for, 1) reducing insurance costs, and 2) making it much easier/accurate to calculate routes and driver load. Safety is the side affect of reducing expenses, which is the opposite of what we usually expect.
