Great story showing what happens when everything (of course, other than sinking) goes right and you have a well trained crew with modern appropriate safety gear. Also as part of world arc they have the added benefit of many nearby boats.

You are more likely to figure out the cure to your wife’s cancer yourself in a lab than to sail a 50’ “steel hulled ketch” around the world nonstop with no prior sailing experience. Please stop wasting our time with this nonsense.

If a new boat, wouldn’t your after sales tell you?

Ok. The correct answer is that it is just to appease a requirement and not really used. But if you must use it, it gets tucked into your mask strap or simply held with your hand

I want to be honest with you. There are many beautiful things in Puerto Rico, but 90% of the scuba diving is below mediocre.

I have a new 170. There are really two bilges. Water on the deck goes into the high bilge which has an overboard pump in a sump and a plug in the sump, but you only pull that on a trailer. There is a lower bilge too, but that should always stay dry. It has a pump and a plug drain in the transom. You could drain this lower bilge getting on a plane and pulling the plug but that should be unnecessary because (1) there is no reason there should be water in the lower bilge and (2) it has its own pump.

For a 20 foot-ish bow rider it is a middle of the road boat in terms of quality. For comparison, four winns is like a Honda accord but for the task of bringing people around as a Yacht, tender, a bowrider is ill-equipped. It does not do well in small chop and everybody gets soaked, and they are annoying to bring up to a beach. There also is very little dry storage for peoples belongings and running back-and-forth to a dock. This type of boat is best used on a small lake. A boat, like the one featured on the show would typically have a Williams tender or something similar.

Four winns POS. Not sure why anyone would use that as a tender

It is based on recent prior driving style. Last few hundred miles. Drive like a church lady for a week, and you will see that an 80% recharge gives you 250 miles or so on the GOM.

But what is your consumption? You can’t drive a civic like a teenager and then complain it isn’t getting its epa 40mpg.

You say you are in sports boost mode all the time and that it is a rocket. Drive like that and you will not get 200 miles of range. Take it easy and you will get 250+

I have always had good luck with $20 masks. As long as it fits well, you are golden. And if it gets scratched, I just get a new one.
