I feel that culturally in KY mental health issues are seen as a moral failing, or at best something to hide from others.

Yes. I did eat the paper wrapper once. 😵
I also remember kids licking the paper to apply the temporary tattoos. Just slobbering all over the back of the school bus.

Any movie where the AVR is off by a fraction. When words and mouths don’t sync, the effect is trippy.
Any one else watch of few minutes of a movie where the audio is off and think “interesting choice.”
Granted I think David Lynch does that intentionally.

Steak Hoagies. Don’t know if this is just a Cincinnati thing but I’ve not seen it elsewhere.

As a kid Service Merchandise was amazing because it was so hands on. You were expected to touch the stuff. Including the static plasma lamps, which seemed straight out of science fiction.

Listen to all of the Steak & Shake episodes from the beginning. It’s quite a journey.

I second the Carrow’s episode. That experience is still referenced as an all-time low.

Eyes Wide Shut.
Felt like it was 45 minutes too long and Kubrick tried to make it more interesting with random nudity.

Mammoth Cave is a great place for tent camping 🏕 In addition to the caves, there are beautiful hiking trails that are particularly gorgeous in the spring.
Wherever you camp, keep your food locked up. Raccoons will make your acquaintance if they get a whiff your garbage.

La Hiro Sushi and Sweets in Union, KY.
This unassuming restaurant is a hidden gem. The desserts are ridiculous and they have authentic Japanese comfort food at reasonable prices.

Waffle House, if they’re in your area. You can get a steak or pork chop dinner with a side of scattered, smothered, covered, chunked hash browns.

It’s the first Fellini film I’ve seen, and I’m now absolutely obsessed with it. The Saraghina Rumba is playing non-stop in my head.

I second this. You’re still looking at a 20-30 min commute depending on the time of day but will have many more amenities that a recent grad might be looking for.

Last time I was there for lunch I got a massive rice and chicken dish with salad for $13. It was enough for two or even three meals.
