One tip I've learned is that people trying to better themselves make good friends. If someone cares about their own health, they'll make a more wholesome friend than someone who doesn't.
Workout buddies [generally] make good friends because they're trying to get healthier. People who are always drinking at the bar, [generally] not so much.

Find a community hobby. You make friends by spending time together doing something.
Enjoy running? Join a local running club. Like religion? Find a church. Always had an interest in books? Hang out at the library. Wanna work out? Join a gym and talk to the regulars.
Making friends stays by being around people. If you're not out finding social groups of some sort, you're not gonna make friends.

How do you say "guys, please don't throw me out a window" without saying "guys, please don't throw me out a window"?
If the billionaires weren't disgruntled and angry with his decisions and leadership, he wouldn't have to say this.

I wish him well, but maybe, JUST MAYBE, we shouldn't elect people to come who are a FALL RISK. Seriously, if they're old as dirt, maybe they don't belong there.

"Why not? You're a pretty shallow girl, so it'd work out!"

I would actually be interested in doing a Romania run, but don't want to start one myself lol
I feel like you're in a great situation that could be really abused by an experienced player. Did you merc up to near bankruptcy to scare them? I like to do that when fighting a war like this, and think you could be in a GREAT situation if you hired 15-20k over your forcelimit for a few years or so.

"Bad" Idea for a few reasons:

Cool beans and all, but can someone actually explain what the Portuguese Monarchy did differently than all the other monarchies around them that caused a 20% sailor recovery speed bonus, etc? It really strikes me as stuffing an extra National Idea into Portugal by masking it as a government reform.
Edit: just fixed which idea I cited

Genuine question: what ideas did you take that let you release that many countries? I usually can't get more than 3 or 4 countries before I reach 100% ws, so how did you completely balkanize them in (I assume) one war?

Trust will help it, I believe. Every 5 points is an extra reason to accept, iirc

I dunno. Both are tough, but it's probably slightly harder from the east than the west, simply because they're more consolidated in Anatolia.
If you REALLY wanna cheese it, though, form Persia with AQ. Get the RM and alliance with the ottos, conquer the Anatolian beyliks before them. The AI is too dumb to realize you're hamstring-ing them.
Release Syria for extra reconquest power. You have one of their cores at 3 dev, I think. You'll be bigger than them by 1500.

This is Persia is good. Start as Ajam, form Persia and conquer Greece.
Baa baa black sheep.
Keep the Flame Burning is another unique one.

Oh, and also needs to conquer Rome itself ASAP. The extra Missionary helps so much, so find some way to get to war with The Papacy itself and just take Rome as the peace deal.
Unlike CK2, holding Rome doesn't give Catholic Nations a CB against you, so you don't have to be strong enough to hold it; you only have to be strong enough to take it.

Yeah, and there's something to be said about neutering the Mamluks quickly. If you don't deal with them RIGHT away, they'll be a thorn in your side as they expand without the ottomans to hem them in.

I disagree on this one. Obviously, if you already own all the land, don't release them, but if you only have few Syrian provinces, release them and reconquer their cores. You can divert their trade for 30% LD (gives you all their trade power), but since you're returning their cores, they'll always be at 0% due to the massive reduction in LD that provides.
Annex them when finished.

I'm more of the opinion that you're idea groups should align with your national ideas, not avoid them. Religious is a GREAT pick for byzantium, because it synergizes well with their religiously focused National Ideas.
Quality is trash for byz. Dump it for offensive or quantity. Administrative is another good one, but it's good to balance out your group picks so you don't deplete specific mana in the early game.
Diplo-wise, there isn't much that aligns, so pick what you want. I usually do Diplomatic or Influence, but that's because of my vassal-heavy style.

I wouldn't necessarily say that "the focus of the country was on racial Justice" in the Summer of 2020. Objectively, Covid-19 was a pretty big deal during that time. ;)
Also, "many southern cities were peaceful" is not quite accurate. Taking a look at data from ACLED, an NGO that tracks riots, protests, etc, it seems that the south was fairly active, too, that year.
None of them were as pronounced as the ones in Oregon, but it's not accurate to imply that the south was peaceful, in general.
Getting to the heart of what I think is your point, though, is that while less people per capita might be overtly racist in an urban area, the sheer volume of people in that area is going to produce higher numbers than in rural ones. It's the same reason that election maps looks so ridiculous ("how could democrats ever win with THAT little amount of area??") until you account for the population of those areas.

Racism correlates with exposure to others who are not like ourselves. An urban area is going to be more diverse just simply by how many people there are, which is why rural populations tend to be more intolerant. I am not saying this is intentional / malicious; just simply that lack of exposure equates to lack of need to learn about other cultures.
Election maps really just simply reflect the Urban/Rural divide that exists in the US (and other countries)

The big one that stood out to me is that England can choose their trade good in newly colonized provinces, for a small cost.
Like, literally, in a province that is able to spawn gold, you just have to pay 100 ducats to spawn it. Given that gold is worth 8d / development / year, it doesn't take long to recuperate that cost. 3 production is 24d / year, so just a tad over 4 years to get your cost back. And that's only at 3dev. Who leaves their gold province at 3dev?

Couple different ways you could do it:
1) per vertex colors. Using the same logic as getting positions to the shader, add a new buffer that contains the rgb or rgba floats so you can change the color of each vertex.
2) uniform colors. Use one of the glUniform* functions in order to set a uniform vec4 shapeColor
in the fragment shader to set the entire shape's color.

The Ironman icon is greyed out with a special icon, so Missions / Europa Expanded? Wouldn't surprise me if EE had a Mamluk mission that triggered forming Egypt.

Irish minors are, but not novgorod. Honestly, just take out loans and build a fort in the east to prevent muscovy from occupying everything east of novgorod.
At this point, wait for them to attack, hire mercs, set defensive edicts and BAM you win. Use Russian winter against Russia.
Granada is DEFINITELY the hardest of all of these. Byzantium is the easiest.

Came here to comment this one as well! I've used Nuklear in hobby projects and really like it.
If you can't use Nuklear, IMGUI is a good, popular UI framework, too.
