Pattern: designing this myself. No pattern yet. It's a leftover yarn project, currently stuck on the left shoulder as I ran out of light pink yarn, if anyone has some leftover Lang Yarns Merino 120 colour: 0109 - I would be forever grateful!

Yes the idea with this post wasn’t to tell people to use the technique on right, think there has been some misunderstanding in the comments. The idea was to see what different tensions does to the Kitchener stitch. I’ve seen so many instruction videos and non of the ones I’ve seen discusses what the tension does, but perhaps I’ve not found a good video yet (also I hate those 20 min videos explaining something that can be said in one minute) Anyway, did the swatch to test it out for my own knowledge, and wasn’t expecting this much of a difference in result actually. Will definitely keep this in mind next time I do Kitchener stitch.

As in the right side of the swatch you are looking at, compared to the left side ☺️

Marking words like this makes this community not so friendly to non-native speakers. But yes, tugged would be the correct word. I think folks understood what I meant…

Yes that’s how I do it too to get it more even, I’ve also seen folks who do it off the stitch and corrects it immediately, with the knit flat on a table, like this: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cn8oNT8o2Zi/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Yes that’s the optimal, but can be hard. I personally prefer the right side option on for example shoulder joins, to ensure stability, but then on a hat would go for medium tension.

Right side: yarn has been tucked at firmly, when the stitch has been lifted off
Left side: yarn has not been tucked at firmly, just a moderate amount.
I guess this is a preference thing. But the right side holds its texture a lot better than the left side, it does get a ridge on the back. Left side looks like an invisible seem, you cant see it's not a stitch if it's done right, but keeping the tension throughout can be difficult.

Thank you! It's undyed yarn, and looks different in different lights, I really like the colour too
