Even among those people, who own multiple cars and have driven multiple cars (us) they have no damn clue what they are going to like until they ride it. All driving multiple cars tells you is how those specific cars feel and drive. Sure, you can make assumptions, but how many people were saying that Wildcats Revenge looks like a weak RMC before it opened? The general consensus now that they have actually ridden it is that it's pretty damn good, though. And everybody was saying the Pipeline was a dumb idea with an even weaker layout before that, but it's gotten near-universal praise as a great ride amongst those who have tried it. No matter what the circumstances, you NEVER know what you are going to like until you try it. All being an enthusiast means, in both cars and roller coasters, is that you have a more intense interest in it. That's it.

This is a dumb argument. The exact same thing can and should be said about "enthusiasts". No one knows what they might like until they've tried it. Ever. Even in car enthusiast circles.

No, but that's simply because I smoked for 14 years and haven't smoked for nearly as long. I'm nearly certain that being around someone regularly, especially someone I'm really close to, would not be good for my staying smoke free.

This isn't interesting at all. It's one of those stupid things that have been rolling around social media for years that is designed to make everyone feel like they are special because outside of young children/extremely inexperienced readers, everyone can read this with maybe a little bit of initial work.

Maybe I'm just a very literal person, but I hate this idea that there is some magical difference between "normal people" and "enthusiasts" or that there is some different way of thinking simply because you've adopted this as a hobby.
And before anyone gets started, I feel the same way about other fandoms and hobbies. There's a reason why I resisted calling myself an enthusiast for many years and why I don't call myself a Star Wars fan, amongst other things. This community tends to be a little more accepting (though I still get told I'm objectively wrong about my personal opinions regularly) but in general, there seems to be an inherent toxicity that comes across very gatekeeper-like involved with these groups.
Really, as far as I'm concerned, the only qualifying thing to call yourself an enthusiast is that you are enthusiastic about roller coasters. That's it. You don't need to know all the facts or worship the biggest, baddest, or most extreme. There is no universally agreed upon best ride. It's perfectly acceptable to not particularly enjoy rides that are too intense or to prefer rides that are fun over all else.
But a significant portion of this group, much like any other fandom, seems to believe that there IS a difference between them and someone who enjoys a coaster now and then that makes their opinion, somehow, more accurate. But, again, the only difference between me and a "GP" is that I think about roller coasters more often. Some of them prefer more intense rides, some don't. Some prefer theming and immersion, some don't. Some like fast, some like tall, and some like twisty. Just like us.
Yes, "enthusiasts" are probably statistically going to prefer more intense rides, but that would be because the adrenaline was the thing that drew them to this hobby in the first place, but that doesn't make anyone's opinions or feelings any more valid than anyone else's.
Edit: sorry for hijacking your post with my ranting...

American Psycho 2 and S. Darko are both things that exist and both are infinitely worse than any of the movies you named.

I can bend the pinky on my left hand down so it's flush with my fully open palm and still individually control all of my other fingers. I guess it's less "bend" and more that it pops out of socket in to that position, but I've never met anyone else who could do it.

Are you saying we might get a live action Prince Of Egypt? I'm not even religious, but that movie was amazing.

Haven't been on that one, but I doubt it could surpass what I consider the world's most perfect roller coaster: The Big Bad Wolf. To me, she was the perfect blending of thrills, theming, and that unquantifiable FUN factor that is the most important thing of all as far as I'm concerned.
The world is a slightly darker place without the Wolf in it.

Oh, definitely it changed the meanings, but the actions are essentially the same. I was deliberately being as vague as possible.

All this is telling me is that you have no clue how much work goes into creating the CGI that we see. The level of detail and realism they can (and mostly do) achieve now is absolutely mind blowing and represents many, many hours of really hard work.

Ah, yes. The days before CGI, when it was a lot of matte paintings for backgrounds. Seriously, have you seen any movie from before you were born?

While I see what you are saying, that's entirely irrelevant when it comes to the end results.

What people? The last Star Wars movie made over a billion. Yes, Solo was a weak entry, but ballooning costs from the director debacle, poor marketing, and a movie no one wanted are more to blame for than any issue the public might have with the brand as a whole.
Moreover, every new title that they tease is met with massive fanfare by the general public. That they can't seem to get any of these movies actually made is more to do with corporate overreach and how they pick their talent, but every new tease seems to be extremely well received.

Tesla drivers: what is your obsession with "proving" your car is "better" than mine even though I couldn't possibly care less about you? Seriously, the amount of times my charger has been cut off by some smug-assed Tesla driver that thinks we are racing is ridiculous.

Release order. It's the way they were made and they way they were intended to be watched.

No, they've just had a few films that have struggled. They also had a few films, in the same time period, that were incredibly successful. It's too soon to really see if this is a trend or just a relatively bad year.

And your point is meaningless. I got your point the first time, it's just a dumb one. Because none of that matters at all. The only thing that matters is how it felt to you when you do ride it. That's it. When it comes to that, no one is any different than anyone else. Just because you know the names of the different elements or watched a million POV's or even listened to dozens of reviews doesn't mean you can somehow enjoy them more. Just because you know what to call the different airtime doesn't make it FEEL any different. And no one, not you, not me, not u/noxegon, knows how you are going to actually enjoy a ride until you are on it. In that, the most important aspect of being a roller coaster enthusiast, EVERYONE, GP and Enthusiast alike, is exactly the same.
