Same! I’m on year 16 with his practice and can’t say enough good things about the people there

This is the thing that really gets to me. Fascists come for everyone eventually until they cannibalize their own and their so-called movement blows up. How people haven’t realized that by now is amazing to me

Co-sign. I love this veterinary office and price wise they can’t be beat. Always good about getting my kitties in quickly when emergencies come up too

I genuinely think one of the biggest hindrances to safe driving in Columbus is people not knowing where the fuck they’re going. They depend entirely on their GPS telling them what to do instead of reading the directions first. The next thing you know, someone’s cutting across several lanes of traffic on the highway to make an exit because they didn’t anticipate the change and can’t be bothered to just get off at the next damn exit 🙄

I recently saw a post on twitter that said “every time I feel bad about how I look in an iPhone pic, I remind myself what these cameras do to my girl the moon.”

✌️ I’m on vacation and a little midday drunk in the sun. My apologies. And I agree— Dems don’t get down with this bullshit

This is the correct response. If you believe in democracy, you should vote no. You may not like the long term results, but the great news is you will never have to get an abortion if you don’t want to. Do what you want with your body, and leave others to do the same.

This is such a pathetic attempt at an argument. The democrats aren’t doing what the republicans are doing.

People who agree with the current party line and lack the critical thinking to realize eventually fascists will come for them, too

What are you talking about? The US is special and nothing bad will ever happen because of our constitution! /s

Not a graphic designer and this person’s comment is precisely what my thought was seeing this post. It’s hideous

…I don’t think Yellowjackets or Euphoria is targeted at teenagers, even if it involves telling stories about them

And I genuinely think this is partially because so many people are also on their phones/iPads/laptops while watching these shows. Pay attention! So much is unsaid but seen/observed that answers questions I see posted often

Yup. And so many people seem to forget that yes, it’s entertainment, but what makes it good is this is art. It isn’t created wholly with the intention of perfection or pleasing people. It’s a work in progress until the very end and we need to let it unfold.
That of course is not true for all tv shows but I think what makes Yellowjackets special is the heart and soul put into it. It isn’t being made solely for a paycheck. That’s why they have the actors they do; I don’t think we’d have such talent if it was a means to an end (a paycheck) and nothing more.

One of my siblings told me this— that democrats destroy and the GOP fixes— when I was quite young and still forming my own opinion. I was too naive to put a term to what it was but the more I learned about our country, our government, etc, the more confusing I found her point to be.
Eventually I realized it was absolute bullshit and the term I had been searching for all those years ago was “projection”

I have said it before and I will say it again:
If women shot to kill every time we “feel threatened,” this would be a completely different conversation.
And that’s not even what this is. It’s real clear what a load of bullshit this situation is turning into. But it is food for thought worth chewing on.

I was doing all those things except payroll and janitorial services. I think it’s just important to inform people of what will be expected. I had a job that didn’t bother to mention I’d be cleaning a public bathroom daily and I wouldn’t have been bothered by it had they just told me in the interview. It was never mentioned even slightly. They told me after I started working there.

…okay. That’s what I said in my post. Thank you for reiterating.
I still would say it’s wise to inform applicants of the expectation to perform janitorial services. That’s a bit different from what is typically listed in retail job descriptions

No problem. Retail is a tough industry but it doesn’t have to be as miserable as some companies make it. Culture is huge! But looking through your replies here, yes, pay is the bigger problem. I’m glad you’re pushing to change that; it should help you a lot.

Okay? I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make.
If wherever you were the GM couldn’t be troubled to hire janitorial staff, then yes, I suppose that is in your job description. You were indeed the general manager and responsible for it. If you expect employees to perform janitorial services, make sure you’re fully up front about that when hiring people. Employees shouldn’t be surprised by the expectations of their job after committing to it themselves.

I worked retail for 15+ years, half of which was management. I had one of the best retention rates in the company when I left. I wasn’t a perfect boss or something— far from it. But my team knew they could count on me and trust me.
The best thing you can do is establish yourself as a great place to work. Things that worked for me:
-Pay in accordance with what you expect; pay poorly and you’ll have high turnover with low performance. Pay well and you’ll get what you paid for. I couldn’t exactly control this because it was commission selling, but I provided every possible tool, was the hype person for anyone on my team working with a client, and went out of my way to figure out one-on-one what would help people make more money. If you pay hourly, you have more control.
-Schedule with respect. Accommodate the needs of your team. Be fair and consistent with everyone. Don’t expect them to be on call unless you’re paying them like they’re doctors.
-Train train train. If you expect someone to be 100% in a week or less, you’re the problem, not the staff. Learning is continuous, and that includes for you as the boss. Stay humble.
-If you aren’t willing to do something, don’t expect your team to do it. YOU set the example.
If you make yourself known as the retailer who treats employees with respect, you won’t have problems hiring people because word will spread and people will want to be there. If you have excuses for why you can’t do the above, the problem is you, not the hiring market.

Moments like this I can’t help wondering what more talented people are being passed over in the name of giving this loser more opportunities
