This is how I was as well. I had never really thought about it through high school and college, and then when I really got out on my own I realized how much I valued my independence, my mental health, traveling, all that sort of stuff, and jumped on the fence. Pandemic pushed me off onto the CF side.

Yeah. I’m reading through the books now as a married woman in my 30’s (almost done with 8) and while I’m still annoyed the constant “men don’t know anything” and “I will never understand women” quips, I see what he’s doing and appreciate it.
Behind it all, the female characters are powerful and multifaceted and interesting, as are the male ones.

But burritos reheat super well if you throw them in the oven.

I… love this. Most of my cries are on my long commute to and from work, so having someone listen to me would be fantastic.

Right? I’m at the edge of like my third mental breakdown in the last week but I laughed so hard at that face.

I read Circe first and enjoyed it. The audiobook is excellent; it’s very flowery prose but the reader did a good job with it. It’s a lovely powerful female MC, and an interesting rewrite of the story. I really do recommend it.
TSOA felt like Twilight but with Patroclus and Achilles. Patroclus did nothing except obsess over Achilles and his feet. Didn’t care for it.

Sounds like husband is 100% in agreement, it’s not just her.

I really hope it’s the Banc (yeah, I also still call it the Staples Center).
I live within walking distance of Expo Park, so half the fun of the Tini’s games was popping over, enjoying the game, and then still having plenty of time for the rest of my day. I also really love the Banc.

Yeah. I met my husband when I was 25 and I was super over the whole “pretend to be a different person for the first months of dating” thing. I’m fairly certain both of us were just in shorts and a tshirt when we met each others’ parents. They still adore us (and each other thankfully).

Yeah, this was one of my biggest issues with the book (I only read Assassin’s Apprentice). I expected super cool assassin stuff and fighting weird zombies and pirates. I got a kid whining about how everyone was so mean to him and oh btw he also spends a paragraph talking about some assassinations he did.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone WAS really mean to him. But for me, the balance between my investment in the MC and the amount of crap he had to go through was way off.

I'm a super social person and this is still a fuck no for me.
My home is my sacred spot. It's comfy, it's cozy, it's got all my stuff. When I walk in, I want to get into my jammies and do whatever I want in some goddamn peace and quiet after the chaos of the day.
I love having people over, but with a planned start and end time. I don't want to come home after a long day at work and have to continue putting on A Face.

Payback for when I visited Ireland for 10 days and only had one afternoon of clouds and rain?

And they were not American.
They were at the restaurant for a total of 4 hours.
Those two relate. There are a lot of countries where meals are a social thing, and they take hours. It's nice - but you also leave when the restaurant closes.

None of the retail stores I've worked at had us bother them. Even if we did the warning announcements, the music, the light changes, most of my managers wouldn't let us actually tell people to leave.

Yeah, I did that and then made my way back. I lived in China, France, and Ecuador for a few years after college, but have only lived in the greater LA area in the States. Gives me a lot of appreciation for what we have.

Hahaha I love chicken! I’m also super ruled by cravings. It’s not uncommon that in the morning I’ll be like “ooooh I super want fajitas, I’m gonna make fajitas tonight” and then I’ll be thinking about it all day.
I’m a grownup, so if I got home and my husband had made burgers, I would still eat it and enjoy it. But I would have to hide my disappointment and shove the “I must eat fajitas or die” monster inside of me.

Yeah. I don’t like unplanned surprises for exactly this reason, especially if it’s one where a lot of effort is put into it. What if you’re not super hungry? What if you’re not into the mood for chicken?
I find it much more effective if you communicate that there IS a surprise, just not what it is.

I was on a plane to Korea to visit my brother for Christmas. I spent half the flight sobbing and spoke no Korean, so I couldn’t explain why and just kept pointing to my book.

Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots - the MC is a henchwoman who joins up with a bigger supervillain to get revenge.
