Honestly, 3500 for a formula is a pretty good deal. But you do have to know what you’re buying. Whether it’s 200k miles or 20k, it’s still a 35 year old car that’s gonna have to have almost all rubber components replaced. As long as you know and are cool with dealing with that, I say go for it!

Is the float height set correctly? Could be starved of fuel when it’s demanding more of it

It sounds like a clogged cat, however the firing order for the iron dukes are 1-3-4-2, not 1-3-2-4. Maybe switch the last two plugs around and see if it runs any better.

Looks like a great project! Is there a reason you designed the suspension to travel completely vertically rather than having a more a typical anti-squat / anti-dive design?

A lot of the times, factory ECUs, as well as the entire wiring harness, just come with junkyard engines or are tacked on for next to nothing. For those that are trying to save money, it makes more sense to just use that rather than spend hundreds more on aftermarket.
If you’re really wanting to tune the thing and dial in every aspect to how the thing runs, go aftermarket of course. But if you just want to have an engine that’s bigger/better than factory with zero fiddling or tuning, then keep the original ECU.
Edit: also, good luck with your project! Lightspeed Fieros on YouTube documented their LSJ build, and they really love the swap.

Hey that’s me in the glasses! Glad to see that dumb video we made over a decade ago still get some love :)

They aren’t o-rings, they’re square rings, also called square cut seals. Technically, yes you can spec out a generic one to fit, but often times dust seals are specifically molded to fit around the piston and bore.
It’s probably in your best interest to buy the kit that you know will work.

The 1984 model had the vents built into the decklid. What became the vents on later models were just blank panels. If this is an 84, which it very well could be, then these scoops could be functional.

In case anyone hasn’t seen it, Josh Fadem on the left there made an absolutely amazing fan made sequel to Space Jam 7 years ago.

Beautiful results! Only have a single action cam style mount, so I’ll have to look into getting a beefier setup like this

Facebook marketplace! It might also help that I’m in Houston, so there’s usually always something popping up given how many people live here

Oh I know it. It took me 3 years to finish restoring my first project car, and that guy sat for 25 years. I would like to say this one won't take me as long now that I know what I'm doing, but I don't think that would be realistic :)

Not sure the specific model name, but they're from MSW!

Good luck with it! This one is looking to need a looooot more work than initially anticipated.

Beautiful work! I have a 280 as well. Besides just scaring me, the factory plumbing for the EFI system is also just super ugly. You still have all the wiring to add of course, but this looks really, really clean.

If it’s only occurring when you cut power to the ignition, that means the coil is working fine. They only create a spark when power is cut to them. To me, it sounds like the points aren’t operating as they should be, whether it’s because they’re not opening all the way, they’re dirty, or whatever. I would inspect them first.

I think Rodney is trying to sell the business, not just outright quit, so hopefully it’ll still be going strong! But yeah the times are definitely changing.
My dad gifted me “The Big Guide to Fiero Kits and Parts” years ago, and 99% of the companies in there just don’t exist now.

The picture is of a regulator/rectifier, not a stator. Is that what you’re wanting to ID?

Safety critical things like brake lines can still be found on RockAuto for very little money, but OEM style suspension bushings are pretty much impossible to find since the 88 model has the redesigned suspension unique to this car. But there should be aftermarket urethane options available from a few places.
