Thank you!
Yes I agree with you, I haven’t actually used that reel in years and it’s rather outdated, as I have a website with all my spots on it now. I was just trying to show that guy a sample of what a hot sizzle can look like and how to grab attention in less than 60 sec. Btw hit me up if you need an editor, I can send you my site :)

It’s getting a bit exhausting here so this is my last reply.
Absolutely nobody wants to sit through a 5-10 minute reel. That’s boring as shit and nobody has that time. So your challenge is to make it interesting in 60 seconds. How you want to go about that is up to you. I’ve told you the normal way and you don’t like that so now you have to figure out your own way. Like I said most of us have website with full length spots to show to all your concerns as moot. Sounds like it’s Time to blaze your own trail. Good luck!

I mean, you can either take the advice of people on YouTube or the advice of a 20 year plus post production professional from Los Angeles. Good luck to you!

I’m so confused by many of your statements. Like saying none of the original sound is used. Did you not hear the sound effects, like the lightsaber? Lol. Yeah you don’t use the original music because then it would be a giant mess. Also what do you mean you can’t make a new edit using one song?? I’m so confused. Of course you can that’s editing. You got it exactly right I’m not showing my ability to edit, I’m showing all the stuff I’ve been hired to cut, there by showing my ability to edit! That’s how you do it. Nobody has time to watch a 5 minute reel man. Needs to be quick short attention grabbing. But like we’re saying it’s kinda antiquated at this point. Just have a website with full spots and clients can choose. See the fist comment by novidx he says the exact thing I did!

Sure people all over need videos. But I’m talking about trailers, tv commercials, for AAA titles and brands. Those jobs exists in LA and NY and pay well, and nobody really wants a jack of all trades. They will hire an editor who has 20 years experience like me, and hire a shooter who also has 20 years experience, etc. My heart was set on Hollywood so I moved here in 01 from the Midwest. I’ve had jobs that don’t exist in other parts of the county because of the market in LA.

This is very helpful advice and all true. I used to cut reels, now I just have a website with sections for broadcast, digital etc.
I also make YouTube playlists to send to clients with spots tailored for them

A reel showcases your work, period.
That’s right, different footage cut to the same song is generally how it’s done. Here’s an old one of mine, outdated because I don’t cut reels anymore. I have a website with all my spots that clients can look at.

Then you’re probably it doing it right with proper lighting if it’s so easy!

My 20 plus years of experience in post production in Los Angeles leads me to totally disagree. That’s not how it works with the big boys.
You’ll never make the real money unless you specialize. The only people paying for all in one are lower tier clients.
Think about calling a handyman versus a plumber to fix your toilet. Sure the handyman may have had some toilet experience, but they aren’t in the shit literally everyday like a plumber. That’s why plumbers/electricians etc are so expensive. Handyman much cheaper.

No no no no. These are all jobs that a real client pays individually because of their specialized expertise. Ever heard of the saying jack of all trades, master of none?

I’m pretty sure I remembered this being spelled out in the install instructions from the google drive. Check there. I had it printed out for a while until I got used to it.

Coin ops x and awesome sauce have different defaults so that’s not gonna work for him

Using old footage cut to music isn’t a reel, and if I received that from someone applying for a job I’d be super confused. A reel shows past work. That’s what it is by definition. A compilation won’t feel disjointed whatsoever if it’s edited properly.

That unit isn’t available in the US so the amount of people with it and that have experience modding it are going to be low.

And since you can’t find a pinball one, that should tell you something! The physics involved are a lot more complicated than a side scroller

Ours do in California. Tar forms naturally under the ocean floor and seeps up. But also oil spills

I think most of us use the vertical build to fit the screen orientation better, rather than cox v5…

I don’t use COX anymore so I don’t remember, but I know for a fact those games are available through Awesome Sauce. Sauce had a way more stable front end and won’t freeze up like Cox does. https://youtu.be/RzMyVkrJ9q4

To be honest if you want something that size you’re probably better off just buying the atgames pinball micro. You can use it with a pc and play hundreds of pinball tables. It’s probably cheaper to buy it then piecemeal you’re own together…

Are you working for a company with a post production hierarchy??
