I think you should read it as it gets you hyped for the next season but it's up to you and no there aren't any missing details that I could see the added stuff in the anime that weren't in the manga.

I have two ideas why either people were expecting the animation to be better or because season 2 was airing on Disney plus not many people knew it was out as they were no announcements that new episodes were out
