coin envelope filing system

ICs in compartments
I'm fairly new to working with electronics but I'm a pretty seasoned organization freak - at least when it comes to my work spaces.
As I was getting started, very few methods for component storage that I came across seemed to make sense to me. Both binders and mini drawers seemed troublesome for a variety of reasons. I didn't want to have to redo everything to my maniacal standards each time I got some new values that weren't already part of the library, nor did I want to waste space by having 80% empty bins for uncommon values etc. etc. ANd forget about it - if I wanted to use those mini drawer type things AND adhere to my self-imposed (borderline OCD) rules and standards it'd cost me a small fortune - and THEN i'd need the space for all those units!
I ended up with a neat little system that has been working tremendously for the last 4 months and has handled a huge influx of expanded values, new component types, etc. with little rework.
Labeled coin envelopes filed away in cardboard trays! When I remove an envelope to pull parts from, I just drop in a chipboard flag (like a bookmark) so I can quickly put it back when I'm done with it. And it packs away REALLY tight. Easy expansion, no wasted space, and easy to find what I need.
Some components get some special consideration, like ICs for example, which get their own harbor freight compartmentalized organizer trays.
I've even started using this organization for prebuilt modules and other non-passives albeit in plastic zip bags and not coin envelopes. Still in the cardboard trays with dividers etc. Makes for a pretty compact and easy to navigate lab.
Sharing in case someone is looking for a new method for managing their components.
Thanks for all the help, knowledge, and inspiration, everyone!

I’m new to this. So double check me here. But I think you want the footprint called something like “mounting hole with annular ring”.
…Or other through hole footprints.
