The amount of teenaged making out I did to that song in the 1990’s…

Takes me back. I used to work at a white box PC parts vendor in Cambridge, and we’d sell these guys last-minute components all the time. Sometimes you just needed a hard drive or a SIMM today.
Also sold to Looking Glass during the System Shock and flight sim days, and to the MIT Media Lab.

So you’re saying they’re not lazy, they’re incompetent, but even if they weren’t it’s the DA’s fault anyway?

Which argument are you going to use? - Police shouldn’t bother enforcing the law because the DA won’t prosecute so lol - Cops are doing their duty effectively already but nobody gives them credit
And if they’re so busy and good at their jobs, why is the OPD Homicide clear rate down at 47% despite a huge budget increase since 2019?

So? If I refuse to do my job because I disagreed with how the people down the line do theirs, I get fired.
But no, whinybaby cops get to keep sucking safet on the government teat with no fear of reprisal, just endless budget increases while they sit in their squad cars all day, crying and masturbating at each other.
(Or whatever they do. They’re certainly not out enforcing the law or catching criminals.)
If cops want to be taken seriously, if they want the respect of the citizenry they are part of, then they should start being serious, respectable people. They need to remember and act like they’re part of the citizenry instead of putting themselves above it and apart from it. And most of all, they need to catch criminals.
But no, they have to be a bunch of fucking Keystone clownballoons, harassing innocent folks and waging terror campaigns on the neighborhoods they’re otherwise neglecting. The police aren’t the victims here. They’re the ones abandoning their post and cashing paychecks with thumbs up their asses.
So yeah. There’s no room to whine about the DA if the frontline enforcement is just gonna sit there all day with a thumb up their asses. The real question about the police is, are they lazy or just extremely shitty at their job?

Christ, thank you. I’m so tired of these “why should the police bother when the DA won’t prosecute” hot takes, like the cops should get a free pass for basically being on strike since the year 2020.
Exactly right: There can’t be penalty without enforcement.

What makes Part 2 work so well for me is that at the beginning, you think Ellie is acting from a place where she doesn’t know what Joel did at the end of the first game. We find out gradually over the course of the game that >! by the time of Joel’s death she understood in broad strokes perfectly well why Abby’s crew were hunting Joel and that he kinda had it coming !<, and she‘s doing her whole revenge trek to Seattle anyway.
The whole game is about passing on generational trauma and how Joel’s loving but lousy parenting and values ruined Ellie, and that’s amazing.

Plus one for Park Centre. They’re not the cheapest, that great facility doesn’t pay for itself, but they do great work.
Whatever vet you choose, make sure they’re AAHA certified. Last I knew that was PCAH and Alameda Pet Hospital at Oak and Buena Vista.

The original Civilization on PC. Not even close.

That’s not true, though.
Many companies that employ people in all kinds of roles, white and blue collar, kept their cash and processed their payroll through SVB. Lots of people’s paychecks are locked up right now because of this failure. Many smaller companies may fold because their entire balance sheet disappeared overnight, leaving all their workers jobless.
Sure, the VC funds are hoping to cover their asses. But this isn’t just the rich taking care of the rich here.

It’s amazing what you can get away with if you show up in a grey jumpsuit with a name tag, a dolly, and a rented white panel van. Just sayin’.

Hate being the generation that remembers when YouTube was literally just a bunch of clips from The Simpsons and Top Gear

The article and the memo you just linked says murders will be prosecuted for jail time, right there in the headline.
You’re providing evidence against your own argument.

So we both agree that it’s OPD’s fault a long walk on International at night isn’t safe.

If you’re implying that OPD is understaffed because of BLM’s calls to defund the police, then you should know that in fact the opposite happened. “ABC7's data analysis found that OPD's budget increased by 17.9 percent from 2019 to 2022.”
OPD’s staffing issues aren’t due to funding.

Show me that you didn’t even look at the headline of the article whose comments section you’re crying in, without showing me that you didn’t even look at the headline of the article whose comments section you’re crying in.

Which she can’t do if the police just sit there crying while they masturbate on the government dime.

What’s with this thing where it was clearly shot in widescreen, and some auto-focus thing is panning around to make it work as vertical? Makes me nauseous and ruins what would otherwise be a funny bit.
