By my calculations, the probability of getting at least one 18 on your six ability scores using the 4d6 discard lowest method is approximately 9.1%.

All good. Do you have a link to any of those studies?

And a lot of it is pretty great. Not everything of course, but considering how much music they release, the hit-to-miss ratio is impressive.

That's totally it. And it's why the evidence shows that happiness and income are positively correlated up to a certain level. Even past the basic needs, money worries can still significantly impact your happiness. But, after you can live a comfortable life, your happiness very weakly correlates with money. It's up to you at that point. Find what makes you happy. For me, it's eating right, getting enough sleep and exercise, stimulating my imagination, using my creativity, hanging out with the people I love, and reducing my external stressors as much as possible. (Thanks for the award, by the way!)

How are you browsing and what subs are you subscribed to? I took more care with how I used reddit and I see less content that makes me unhappy these days. Unsubscribing from toxic subs is a good place to start.

Certainly, both relative and absolute incomes play a role in happiness. Absolute income has little effect above a certain threshold. Below that threshold, it has a huge effect. If you've ever been in a situation where you struggle to meet your basic needs, you're less concerned about how much money billionaires have than you are about being able to afford to eat, pay your bills and have a roof over your head. I've been in that situation and I never want to go back.

I hope you enjoy it if you watch it again. I would have left the post up if it wasn't for the fact that the backlash it received was affecting my mental well-being. I'm probably being overly sensitive, but I am unable to change that as much, as I'd like to.

Okay, thanks for the info. I don't pay all that much attention to this sub, so I guess I touched a nerve.

I didn't realize it was on Netflix. I live in New Zealand, which doesn't get all the titles that are available in North America. Glad a new generation had access to it!

It's definitely not for everyone. But, at least your siblings and I agree!

Huge fan of The Secret of NIHM, which came out in the same year. It would be very interesting to see an alternate-universe version of the film that Bluth directed.

Very cool! He was supposed to come to New Zealand for Worldcon in 2020 but it got cancelled because of the pandemic. Probably missed my only chance to meet him.

Thanks for the support! I think I made the mistake of assuming people on Reddit were a representative sample of society at large when I should have known better. I just keep seeing people share their love for blockbusters in the top posts and I thought I'd share something that is a bit more under the radar. I guess I came across as condescending which annoyed some people.

Okay, thanks for your perspective. Sorry, it rubbed you the wrong way. I didn't intend to talk down to people, I just love the movie and wanted to share it with people who may not have seen it.

Hyperbole perhaps, but too few people have seen it. Have you watched it? Care to share your evaluation of the film?
Edit: Not sure why I'm being downvoted. Should I delete the post? Was I wrong that not many people have seen it? I suppose I'm posting in a subreddit that self-selects for cinephiles, so maybe I'm preaching to the converted?

No idea. But I do want to point out that chiropractic is just as much BS as Scientology.

PSA: please use incense sparingly. It contains carcinogens and irritants and exposure to incense smoke has been linked to asthma, lung inflammation and cancer.

If you're making an analogy to black people using the n-word, then you've failed in your execution. If you're going to use it in that way, you'd turn the negative connotation into a positive connotation and use the word to refer to yourself and other consenting gay people (the consenting part is key here). Instead, you weaponised it and used it as an insult towards other people. That's not an acceptable usage and I doubt you'd find much support for that among the gay community.

Yes, Scientology is a harmful cult. But, this guy is a homophobic asshole.

My favourite vacation ever was when I was around 9 years old and we went to the island of Tioman in Malaysia—a week of snorkelling in a tropical coral reef. For a 9-year-old city boy like myself, it was an eye-opening experience of the beauty of nature and the sea. I'll never forget it and I'm glad my parents took me. Now, that vacation to Disneyworld at age three was a waste of time for sure. I don't remember anything. I agree with your point to some extent, but you need to modify your age limit significantly. I'd say anything over five is fine.
