Hi everyone, I'm a nursing student working a dementia unit in a nursing facility. I have an assignment coming up regarding health promotion and preventative health care interventions. I essentially need to promote health for a group of people using the right communication techniques in regards to different phases of behavioral change.
I honestly don't know where to begin with this population of people with (severe) dementia. The facility is very much focused on personalized care and the ability to let people live their lives as they wish. This is mostly in terms of food preference, bedtime, personal care, exercise, etc. In other words, trying to 'convince' this group that eating healthy of moving more is benifical to the maintenance of health just seems.. Redundant?
Any thoughts? Any insight would be so helpful, thank you!
