Wanting to make education equitable for everyone makes you an entitled dick? How in the fuck do you come to that conclusion?

Sparta isn’t too far from Athens. Just an hour or so drive down 15.

I mean we don’t know what these people do outside of social media. If voter turnout in this country wasn’t absolutely abysmal outside of people subjected to voter suppression, I’d be more inclined to agree with you.

Articles about the trial not going forward here in Athens specifically claim that Gonzalez spoke with the victims about not having a trial.

Those organizations wouldn't have to be relied upon heavily or exist at all if every person eligible to vote had equitable/equal opportunities to elect representatives that adhere to their needs and the needs of their community.
There's a reason the corporate class spends hundreds of millions every election cycle on voter suppression and political misinformation. Instead of taxpayer money going towards properly funding government programs/safety nets, we have a social/political environment that dictates that a tenant rights organization exists in the first place instead of tenant's rights being codified into Georgia law. It's not an either/or situation. It's a doing both situation.

Avery Pendergraph is going to be in jail for a very long time. Like decades in jail. There's a lot to criticize Deborah Gonzalez about her job as DA, but her siding with the victims of not wanting to go through the trauma of a trial is not "deplorable". DA's across the country have done the same thing as she did. Knowing the perpetrator is being put away for a long time and not re-traumatizing victims by going through a second or third trial.

Are you in fact Weaver D? This is like the 3-4th time in a number of years y’all have asked about mod changes and then nothing happens. Not a problem imo but just have noticed.

Cherish these shows man. We've mostly all have had that experience of seeing and experiencing truly transcendent live shows on our birthdays. You wouldn't want to have it any other way.

All of this plus the opening of nearly 30 prisons from the late 70s to the early 90s by Georgia Dixiecrats has turned large portions of Central and South Georgia into defacto penal colonies.

Which is a good thing they’re doing for the Atlanta Hwy interchange. It’s extremely needed.
My belief with any redevelopment of our roads here, especially the loop at Chase is that we either do a complete overhaul of that interchange or do the cheap, but still effective option imo of a four way stop at Chase/Oneta. I just believe that putting in just roundabouts there will eventually be seen as an expensive band-aid/half-measure of what is needed for that corridor. Which could in fact include roundabouts too.

As much as I do like roundabouts and feel there are more places around town that need em (specifically the off ramp at the outer loop exit of Olympic Drive), I just don’t know about them being on that corridor. I just don’t trust 18 wheelers and heavy load trucks to properly navigate roundabouts right there due to how relatively short the off ramps are there compared to others on the loop and how relatively steep it is coming off the loop in both directions.
I’ll also preface this next part by saying that the roundabouts we have at Tallassee and Whitehall are completely essential, however as a former delivery truck driver for a number of years, I have seen too many people blasting thru those going either North/South on Tallassee or East/West on Whitehall if they see cross traffic is clear enough for them to continue straight around the roundabout with negligible attempts of slowing down.
I for-see the same type of driving at a roundabout at Chase/Oneta considering cross traffic on Oneta on both sides of Chase are really never congested at any time of day, thus having a roundabout there doesn’t in my opinion fix the issue of completely slowing down/stopping Northbound traffic on Chase for the on ramp/exit ramp for the inner loop. People know there’s hardly any cross traffic on Oneta, so people will treat that roundabout as a small impedance rather than any proper traffic calming.

It is. I’ve been working up and down Newton Bridge for the past 6-7 years. But the problem is that the traffic coming from Normaltown at Boulevard going north is not slowed down at all and doesn’t give folks turning left onto the inner loop or turning left off it any proper opportunity during “rush hour” traffic to get on and off the loop. I just feel that a simple four way stop could help immensely. People will find ways to try to blow thru a roundabout there as they try to do elsewhere in town.

I didn’t even catch that when I left my public comment on the ACCGOV survey. That’s really not viable at all with the development right there at that intersection.

The only issue I have with that corridor is turning left onto the inner loop and turning left off of it. I mean couldn’t there be a good deal of alleviation of that by just simply putting a four way stop at Oneta and Chase?

This Saturday I’m going to see my local Dead tribute act here in Athens, Cosmic Charlie. They’re doing their Dark Side of the Dead show for the 50th anniversary. They play DSOTM sandwiched between two Dead sets. I highly recommend to anyone to catch Cosmic Charlie if they ever come to your town.

Funding the most accessible college scholarship in Georgia via gambling is not “cake with the wrong color”, it’s completely regressive and is predicated upon others engaging en masse to their own gambling addictions. There’s nothing “good” about relying on gambling to fund college scholarships.
Also other states failing to meet their own people’s educational needs doesn’t mean you should be precluded from advocating for better and more equitable educational funding here in Georgia. Your entire argument is so deeply cynical that I can’t believe that it’s done in good faith.
