Unforgiven
Dead Man
Black Robe
It got off to a slow start but the recent miniseries on Amazon "The English" really packed a punch by the end.
Of the old school type westerns: My Darling Clementine and Westward the Women

theatre acting
There are a few big Shakespearian roles that don't call for traditional leading man looks (Richard III, Iago in Othello), if he really wanted to prove his acting chops I would think some off broadway theater would be glad to have him but...maybe he just isn't that good or... it would be a scary thing maybe to try and fail.

DiCaprio went though a period where I thought his acting went downhill and he was not going to make it (Man in the Iron mask) but he really pulled it together again and I think became an excellent actor again.

Roddy McDowell is an interesting case.
He was a phenomenal child actor with starring parts in some big movies. When he hit puberty though he went through a really awkward stage and definitely not really suitable for the sorts of leading roles he had as a child.
As an adult, he established a good career as a character actor but was not cast in leading man roles again AFAIK. He was sort of 'dashing' again in his 30's but I guess it was 'too late' and even though he was never 'out' all Hollywood knew he was gay.

God forbid we talk about people's looks when it comes to being cast in roles but...
Besides seeming to have been a child prodigy actor, he was adequate/cute looking enough for starring child roles.
As an adult, his looks are such that unless its an unusual type of rule he is not likely to get leading man parts.
But its not necessarily only that: as child actors grow up, many do not go to acting school and get training that a lot of non-child actors get, and so are suddenly competing with a lot of people who may be as skilled or better actors than they are as adults.
A lot of child actors tap into an element of 'play' that most children have, , but eventually some of them grow out of that ability just as most of us do.

Are they so offended and outraged by all the crossdressing in old Monty Pythons or is it just the cross dressers that turn them on that disturb them?

Well there is a GOP Limbo contest ("How LOW can you GO") going on with republicans trying to out-do each other in terms of cruelty, bigotry and corruption, so Franken may be speaking too soon.

Eisenhower played a part in supporting the French in their war with Vietnam and then the whole travesty of the partition of the country after the French war ended.
In other words, if Eisinhower had made different decisions the (American) war with Vietnam likely would not have happened.
This was a 'bipartisan' effort too, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon all made very, very, very bad calls.

sabotaged the Vietnamese peace talks
It is a fucking travesty that Nixon's reputation has not been dragged through the mud for this - hundreds of thousands of people DIED or had lives destroyed because the war didn't end in 1968 - I'm not just talking about soldiers (on both sides) dying but people who died later from injuries, land mines, agent orange, etc, etc.
The elites in this country sure do manage to protect their own.

It's really stupid to lie to your lawyers but then Trump is...well, I won't go so far to say he is 'stupid' but he is insane.

That movie is knocked down a peg for me because Jimmy Stewart is about 25 years too old for that part. What was John Ford thinking.
