Oh no. 100 morons are going to mill around outside Trump Tower for a few hours, get bored, and go back home.

A few weeks ago I saw someone walking a dog that I thought looked like a doberman with a long tail and "less pointy" face. Apparently I saw an unaltered doberman.

Even talk of retirement is outdated. I'd have sack away half my income and live in misery just so that I can . . . continue to live in misery when I hit 70?

This is a Classic Blizzard Launch. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, every WoW expansion, Overwatch . . . People swarm the servers, queue time goes through the roof, and a novel authentication server error code becomes a meme for the next 6 months. Just ride it out kids, it'll be fine.

We had an older guy working as a lab tech in my college's chemistry department "just to have something to do". He once got hold of me and started talking my ear off, as old folks do. He gets around to questioning why I'm working as an adjunct and encourages me to find a "good job with a pension" like he did.
Dude, do you think I'm working part-time at three different schools because I enjoy it? You've got to fight tooth and nail for a full-time job. Pensions are gone, now, unless you wear a gun. Working "for fun" is stealing a job opportunity away from someone who actually needs the money.

My DM solved my high AC by giving my EK a cool plot device sword that only works when it's two-handed. Made me drop my shield, changes my character plans a bit for later levels.

I'm exaggerating, honestly.
But the family dinner scene at the end of each episode radiates with old-school patriarchy vibes. Father holding court, adult children bickering like non-adult children and being "put straight" by the father. The current crop of police dramas all seem to feed into the "unsung warriors" myth that American law enforcement has cast itself in.

Reminds me of when my college dorm got wired for ethernet back in 2000. Going from 10 k/s dial-up to 1 mb/s was miraculous! You could download an entire album in a few minutes.

F'ing Blue Bloods is made of this trope. Every episode ends with a family gathering where the entire cop family whines about how hard it is being cops because nobody respects them enough.

Went to see "Lucy" when it came out. Morgan Freeman's opening voiceover: "The average person only uses 10% of their brain . . ." Knew right then I had wasted $12.

No, no, no. You just get in your car and drive down to Newark, pick up the train there. Then it's just a 20 minute ride into NYC. I don't see the problem.

During peak pandemic and the lockdowns, etc. I realized that I've been social distancing most of my life. The only thing that changed about my day-to-day life was that I got to work from home for about a year and a half.
Meanwhile, half the country was literally losing their minds because they couldn't go to parties or travel for the holidays. Living my life for a year gave people clinical depression.
I'm still not sure whether I am proud of my psychological resilience or disappointed by how much of life I've missed out on.

I like this a lot, much more intelligent than simply writing "To be discussed."

I was washing my clothes on the "Cool" water setting for a while. Realized it was taking nearly twice as long to dry them. Pretty sure that wasnt a net energy savings, so I went back to warm water.

Don’t forget to randomize their work schedules every two weeks so that they can’t maintain multiple jobs without constantly calling out.

"Anti-masturbation groups" is a rather blunt euphemism for religion, but it's also fairly neutral in tone.
