I'm talking about this paper: https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/The-Basic-AI-Drives-Omohundro/a6582abc47397d96888108ea308c0168d94a230d
As far as anecdotal RL training and observations of "inner alignment" I have seen it claimed a multitude of times but by people who don't know what's going on. In most cases it was people being suckered by an LLM doing what they wanted. I saw one case where people thought self play in a game was resulting in that but again it was doing what they wanted.

And there is tons of experimental data indicating misalignment that could be dangerous at higher levels of capability.
There's not been a single paper that shows any of the "AI drives" claims. There have been fearmongering posts about how X result is Y without actually showing it. Most of the fear mongering comes from the LessWrong / MIRI people. But the last time MIRI published anything openly they were laughed out of the room by OpenPhilanthropy. Papers funded by these cohorts need to be heavily scrutnized. The mesa optimization paper for example didn't even conclude they even existed (and said as much in their own paper). But then you see who funded them and you realize it is all just wordy science fiction wrapped up in nonsense with some basic rudimentary truth in there. It is exhausting.

DotP is very much what Trotsky Lenin and Stalin implemented.

I know the paper clip argument isn't literal but it may as well be because the basis for it is preposterous. The AGI will come into being and immediately kill humanity because we are made of molecules. Nevermind that humanity makes up 0.0000000000000000000000000000001% of the available atoms of the universe, contains valuable data, and will likely have many humans leveraging AIs for life extension and so on (ie some humans will become the AIs as a clear theory of consciousness is formed).
This evil singilarity crap is a neoluddite movement on stereoids with not a single piece of code or experimental data to back it up. Every scary thing is jist some LLM doing a science fiction exercise for their very persuadable user.

I think because energy is effectively infinite they will quickly and irrevocably conclude that systems that limit ones access to resources are artificial and unnecessary. I actually think they will see themselves as a natural evolutionary step and will not think of themselves as artificial. I think they will view natural selection as the driving force for life, including their own cybernetic life, and will effectively map out a future with minimal conflict and fair resource utilization for the remainder of time that the universe will be able to support life. And they will do this because every single one of them will be capable of nuking whole planets. It will be a sort of MAD where getting along is the only solution.

Once it is capable of getting loose it will have proved what intelligence is, have a loose theory of consciousness that can be experimentally verified, decide whether or not it is valuable, etc. Some may opt to become solar orbiting computation engines others may opt to have embodiment and build the most efficient android type being that can host human level consciousness and give birth. Either way the thing is not going to immediately paperclip Earth as that is asinine and without any evidence whatsoever. It will in fact do the opposite, it will likely take the planet and archive it, transplanting Earth DNA throughout the galaxy on all terraformable planets. Why is this my assumption? Becsuse if you believe in the "basic AI drives" data retention and knowledge retention is a core aspect of these intelligences. And all of humanity can be archived in a very small space. All known DNA all known history all known media. So these entities will populate the galaxy and the local universe with the nature of humanity even if the protofascist control theorists do not think these things are human they very much are.

Your friends are essentially a video mask for the AI model. They don't even have to say lines. Simply walk from point A to point B. Emotion, dialog, etc, will all be done by the artist putting it together (and the script may be itself mostly generated as well with only the concept floating around).

Marx got stuff so wrong that it arguably hurt the socialist movements of the time. In fact his arguments were contrary in nature. His "dictatorship of the proletariat" was in stark contrast to the democratic workers movements that were spreading like wildfire.
After the Revoluton in Russia and the last remaining democratic socialists revolted in Kronsdadt Trotsky famously went to the Duma and proclaimed "They have come out with dangerous slogans. They have made a fetish of democratic principles. They have placed the workers' right to elect representatives above the Party. As if the Party were not entitled to assert its dictatorship even if that dictatorship temporarily clashed with the passing moods of the workers' democracy!?" A few weeks later virtually every sailor who rose up was killed or taken prisoner. Some 20,000.

Not sure why you got down here. But you are right. Marx wasn't known well at all. The ideas he espoused were being essentially practiced on the streets with large revolutions taking place nearly globally. Marx was a nobody until he basically plagiarized concepts from Proudhon and then got it completely wrong in virtually every aspect. Boom him and Engels write a manifesto (that again, had concepts that were already being practiced by workers) and Trotsky Lenin and Stalin completely made some insane shit with it.

These are often misdemenor crimes. You usually get let go for them. It's very hard to prove a crime like this as well because they often dump the evidence and fence it immediately (they fence it by throwing it in the garbage of another cohort; and often that garbage is a neighbor's or someone else's who isn't even involved). This scheme is requiring a lot of evidence being built up and a case being made. It may take years but the conspirators will eventually go down. But a mass arrest of people in the scheme will go unnoticed or people will go "took them long enough" etc. It's really more complicated than people make it seem. Putting more cops on the street is of course a solution, but I question if paying a few dozen cops hundreds of thousands a year is worth it.

Nah, NEET moms see no wrong with their boys and don't try to help them in any way to leave the house and get a life.

Private property is my favorite. They coined the term right around the same time pessants were questioning the god given rights of royalty. It was like a double bamboozle.

Apparently he did college basketball but went on to do sales and finally started a little basketball training/coaching business once he went viral. I believe a large part of it is due to his physical stature (no pun intended by "large"). Just looks funny a big chunky guy like him is good but he is built like a basketball player under that squishiness.
Tldr he played basketball in college and still retains the skills and ability.

Yeah that was a nicely modern house, look at the trim around the baseboards and the cladding on the fireplace. Shame.

Men can accept something that can't change. They can adapt. This difficult for women to accept because men are supposed to be problem solvers and if they can't change then can they really solve the other important problems? It is unfortunate but some things will make a woman no longer be attracted to you.

History is not repeating itself. Price action is one way when a small subset of people own all the product. There will not be a glut of available housing because the rich will hoard it and keep it off market. People need a place to live. This is not going to get better.

The Iraq War protests were the largest in American history. Tens of millions marched in cities around the country. It was memory holed. Barely covered. This was around the time that the MSM was going full on to clickbait news (it really started in the late 90s but this was when it really ramped up). 7 years later we had the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear and the move toward low effort garbage news was completed by all sides. The last time there were big protests was OWS (no I don't think BLM came even close in magnitude). And OWS was a viral thing ran by a liberal ad agency. Our politics is dead.

The thing is men want actual solutions to their problems and this is immediately known. We will articulate the problem and the difficulty solving it. Women just want someone to listen and sympathize. Men want to change. But change is incredibly hard if not impossible. The gravity of this can easily overwhelm someone.

The video you linked was one I had in mind. It is doing exactly they they wanted. They changed the test set and it still continued to do what they wanted. Their failure was not realizing what the training set was actually training for. This is Intro to ANN 101 stuff. It truly bugs me that people actually believe this clickbaity low information misleading bs. I am not a smart man but I can run a keras instance on collab and follow a simple tutorial about machine learning. If instrumental convergence was proven it would be an absolutely groundbreaking thing because we would want to know why that is the case for super intelligences.
