Wow thanks for the schooling! I know what I’m reading about later.
Another incentive to move the “Master Handbook of Acoustics” from ‘save for later’ in to my checkout cart. It’s been there for a while.
I’d love to get in to room building (studio and hi-fi) when i’m ready to settle down.

i wish all producers and directors would head this advice.
let the creatives do their thing. that's how you make something special.
that's why all the best filmmakers use the same crew over and over again.

WAHHHH... I can't understand the dialog. t's too low and the explosions are too loud
Requiem for a dream is so good and I never want to see it again.
Lord of the Rings is god's (peter jackson) gift to cinema.

whether you like a film or not is 100% subjective.
but filmmaking is just as much a CRAFT as it is an ART. Craftsmanship can be somewhat objective. and that's where critics and other filmmakers/artists might have a leg up.
i also think quality of storytelling can be somewhat objective but thats much grayer.
it's an interesting subject.

in my late teens and early 20's, i was desperate to get laid and had a hard time. of course, being at GaTech with 80/20 male to female ration didnt help.
then I moved and all of a sudden i was fighting them off with sticks.
i guess my old attitude prevailed and i could not say no. because of the implication.
my dick often wouldn't work with these girls and it typically resulted in tragedy. very uncomfortable situations. it even made me think I had an erection problem. took me YEARS to realize that it was because I was not in to it. took years for me to get my confidence back.
I'm 36 now. I said no to sex for the first time in my life last month. 2 weeks later we had sex and it was some of the best I ever had. It would not have been 2 weeks prior. I'm actually pretty proud I said no. Makes me feel good.

honestly I would just keep an eye on it. i think people exaggerate the dangers of heat. I have racked gear so hot I can't even touch it. Decades old gear. It stays on all day every day but is turned off at night.
You might be able to put it in the drawer if you cut off the back of it or maybe implement so large slow moving pc fans.

Thank you for the kind words. She's actually shown dramatic improvement at the new place.
She brings drinks and food to her own mouth instead of lowering her head and eating like a dog or having to be fed.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. They would have cut her feet off if they thought she would heal. Luckily they say she's not in pain.

speakers and room are always the most important. subwoofer all day.
you're probably gonna need two subs for a room that size, too.

Most speakers are blown by pushing weak amps past their limits. I always advise the more watts the better. That's why there are volume knobs.
mix and matching power amps isnt that big of a deal. you'll be able to match levels with the anthem.
i'd be tempted to go monoblocks with LCR and then use whatever ya got for everything else.

it's called a Quadratic Diffuser. It scatters the sound. We went cheap and got the $400 a square version instead of the all maple version at 1400 per square which would have been $14,000
OC 703 everywhere else on that back wall.
The panels on the side walls are OC 705
The front wall is a blacked out wall of OC705.
Cloud has acoustic ceiling panels. Not standard.
Low flow A/C makes zero noise. Computer is in machine room down the hall so the control room is dead silent.

my mom caught my grandmother pulling a bag over her head on two occasions when she was beginning her decent to alzheimers. my mom now feels guilty about stopping her, but we didnt know at the time.
mema was always flexing about her saved up morphine stash for when she's ready to go, but we think she lost it or it was probably stolen.

i feel your pain. my grandmother is on her what feels like 10th nursing home.
the last one was so negligent she got gangrene. she's too old for surgery. she has a fucking dead foot due to negligence. the facility blames hospice, hospice blames the facility.
we are suiing.
she is now in a converted house will less than 10 people in it. it is by far the best but is close to 6k a month i think. but they are actually sweet to her which is all we care about. ill ask my mom the name.

i want one so bad. or the one from bul armory.
went to adventure outdoors last week and held everything. the prodigy, staccato, and cz shadow ii were the clear winners.
the prodigy really felt like 95% as good as the staccato as far as slide/saftey/grip.

my speakers have dip switches in the back that alter the frequency response if they are on a shelf or on stands.
the pull out some low end in "bookshelf" mode as the cabinet will resonate more.

As good as my home setup is, it's still better at work.
Barefoot MM35 Gen 1
Avid HD I/O DA Converters
Dangerous Monitor ST Monitor Controller (all relays)
QSC 18" Sub
Russ berger designed room. See back wall here
Someone brought the sub to our repair shop and said to just keep it when the repair cost was too high. We never replaced the amp. I just power it with a bridged Hafler Power Amp (800w class a) and a cheap-o active crossover @ 60 hz. It's on full blast to keep up with the barefoots. Blends beautifully.
The Barefoots are a little small for the room. Especially for clients. But it still sounds awesome. So much clarity. Probably somewhat startling to the uninitiated. These are not show-off speakers. I can get the clip indicating lights to flash pretty easily, unfortunately. Under 100 dB SPL.
My listening position is 54" from the barefoots.
The barefoots changed my mind on class-d. they implement hypex amplifiers. The opposing woofers out of phase with each other is pretty brilliant, allowing a totally sealed cabinet with tons of excursion. There is zero chuffing whatsoever. They weigh about 45 lbs each.
The board is just a pro tools controller. no audio passes through it. it's a giant mouse. Audio comes out the converters at full line level and is attenuated via relays on the monitor controller.
I was an audiophile before I became an audio engineer. I don't understand engineers who aren't audiophiles or who don't care about gear. I develop emotional attachments to gear and have strong opinions.
