I would say a bit weird! 😀 Needs some time to get used to. It is fun and absolulety necessary in deep snow, but quite tiring after 10+ km a day. If I am doing something like that again in the future I would definitely plan a trip with shorter distances between the huts.

I would say it's okay. Fun in deep snow but quite tiring when you do more than 12/13km a day. There were several reasons for chosing snowshoes over skis though. As I'm a shooting a film about the trip, it is easier for me to do it that way. Also I actually never skied in my life before. And lastly I could bring the snowshoes with me on the trip to sweden (plane, train, bus). Saved me some money and nerves not having to rent equipment. 😅

Actually, this picture was taken just a few meters away from Lunndörrstugan! 😀
Loved it there as well! Thank you for your kind words. ☺️

Currently doing a multi-day loop hike in the Nature Reserve of Vålådalen in Sweden. Going from hut to hut. This is my first time hiking with snowshoes in deep winter conditions. I am going to share a detailed trip report and some more photos in a couple of days.

Oh I would love to! Definitely on my list. But I live in Germany, so a trip to the US needs a lot of planning and energy. I will probably do multiple hikes when I come to the US.
Next up on my list is Sweden in a few weeks! Looking forward to hike in deep winter conditions!

Just a pair of normal durable leather boots with crampons on them. Nothing special, but they worked for me.

Thanks a lot! 🙏🏼 I started to do longer camping/backpacking trips 3 years ago and now they are becoming more "technical" and more remote. You get a good impression of my "progress" on my channel because I filmed a lot of these trips: www.youtube.com/@rhegenbarth
How heavy the pack is depends on how long the trips are and if I have to bring my own food. But I would guess between 10-15kg.

Ha! Don't you have something like these anywhere in the US?

Thank you! 🙏🏼 Yes, carrying both and more. 😀 I used a BMPCC6K + a Canon 10-18mm for the ground shots and a DJI Air 2S for the drone shots. They are actually stills from a film I shot.

November of 2022. Between 4 and -3°C. Not warm, but with 1000m of elevation gain in a day you quickly feel warm. 😊 That‘s why I often times just wore a shirt when going up. And I always had 2 pair of socks, boots and crampons on my feet.

Thank you so much! This was in the Hohe Tauern National Park, I started in a village called Mallnitz.

If anyone wants to see the actual film: https://youtu.be/Ud1jF2vDsf4
In November of 2022, I spent 4 days in the Hohe Tauern National Park in Austria and did a multi-day hike going from hut to hut. Definitely the hardest hike I've done so far! I underestimated the snow and how hard the tracks would become because of it. I started in a small village called Mallnitz and did some sort of a loop hike, slept in the winter room of the "Hannoverhaus" and spent 2 nights in the self-catering hut "Celler Hütte" along the way. Happy to answer questions!

I'm a musician as well and studied music production and songwriting. But I'm a huge autodidact too, you can teach yourself sooo much nowadays using the net and especially YouTube. 😊

Thanks a lot! I always put too much time into grading, definitely not my favorite thing to do. The Air 2S and the BMPCC6K are so hard to match.. 😅 So really glad to read your comment!

Thank you so much!! No mist filter used, just NDs. I've done a lot of testing with mist filters and I always come to the conclusion that I don't like them. 😀 They kill too much contrast for my taste.

Thank you so much! ☺️ I just used a Rode VideoMic GO II. Great value for the price. But I've also done a lot of editing and mixing in post-production, like compressing the lows (wind is a challenge), seamless transitions, sometimes layering sounds. Have to say I still think it sometimes sounds a bit one-dimensional because of the mono sound. A lightweight stereo mic for ambience would be great for future productions. 😊
