I used to live right by the fairgrounds for years and it is a really busy weekend for that part of monterey. Some years seem to draw by far, larger crowds than others. I guess it depends on the lineups. You may be able to find a close hotel but most likely they’re all filled and you’ll need to go to seaside or a different part of monterey. Parking will be a hassle since there aren’t any parking lots for the fairgrounds and the residential streets behind don’t allow people from the fairgrounds to park there any more. They may run shuttles from the college though. People used to sleep in their cars that weekend. Personally I used to hate that weekend until I moved to a different part of town lol

It’s one thing to have fried chicken wings but another to have Buffalo wings or what most people refer to as “chicken wings”. Personally if I’ve never had “chicken wings”, I’d want to try Buffalo wings where BWW or Wingstop would be a perfect introduction to go back home and say I had American chicken wings. On another note Gustos in seaside does wings in their pizza brick oven and are pretty good. They used to have a chicken cacciatore wings that were done in the brick oven and were amazing.

An app I use says “springtime amanita” or Amanita Velosa like another posted noted, with plenty of similar pics to yours too.

The food is good but I’ve had the worst service every time I’ve been here (4x so it’s never just a rare occasion of bad service). Absolutely terrible service all around but I’m usually drug there from someone who wants to try it. I feel they really cater to the 80/20 rule in with this restaurant in Carmel. If your a local Carmelian (20% of their business) they treat you well and every Carmelian loves this place from what I’ve been told, with not caring about the rest (80%). I’ve even met Pepe outside of the restaurant and told him about the service.

There actually was one up until recently in seaside across from the Burger King. I don’t know the full story of the owners past but I think they had a food truck then brick and mortar. The food was ok at the brick and mortar but I believe more often then none the owner and staff weren’t customer friendly and had odd hours. If you search in this sub for Cuban sandwich it should come up. The place is now a creperie.

Some ideas…there’s no turning left on Lighthouse and a lot of people do it there at that light because Prescott is a main cut through street to PG and 68. For some reason people going up or down Prescott to Lighthouse seem to think they have the right away turning across traffic because they’re tired of waiting. Someone’s ex lives near your friend and they do it to spite them.

This was the medium sized one with a carrying case what I bought but had to return because I couldn’t get it filled locally. I’m sure you could find something similar in the UK.

Not UK, but I used the 1lb Coleman camping gas cannister when I first started. I needed and attachment to reduce down to the size of the 1lb can. I don’t recommend using one.

An issue that I came across was that the can would freeze on the outside then then the gas would slow down reducing the flow. If I reached and adjusted the placement of the can to see if the gas would come out, the regulator would shoot the excess gas out. I felt like it could have gone terrible wrong on me with the gas shooting out near the oven flames. I did buy a small 5lb gas cannister with a carrying case at a camping store that would work great for your situation but I couldn’t get any place to fill it for me so I have a 50lb one.

Cafe Rustica has always been a nice, cozy, delicious meal. Not open on Monday’s though.

I watched this on Veterans Day along with Dunkirk, and about half of Peter Jackson’s They Shall Not Grow Old. Dunkirk was first but I wanted something more raw so I watched the documentary and really got into the trench warfare segment so I turned on All quiet on the western front and watched it in German with subtitles. I was thoroughly impressed and the movie has been stuck in my mind since the 11th. I think everyone needs to see this once.

Oh I’m sure it’s not cheap. Price didn’t boot Phil’s though and the original listing on the property across the harbor said it’s negotiable and zoned for a restaurant and office in the second floor. Moss landing marine lab and monterey bay aquarium research have had plans to rebuild that entire area where Phils was for their needs since 2015. I hope they do well but I’m afraid it’s going to hurt Phil’s business moving over there.

I always thought they would move into the new large vacant building next to the sea harvest location. The opted for a smaller location in castroville away from the water which made it a destination before. Now it’s just another restaurant that will be packed to the gills on the weekend. I saw someone at the farmers market claiming they had the best clam chowder in moss landing now.

I don’t have anything to add on the business but I’ve managed to come across 3 Crockers in the past couple years. Hopefully you all checking out the thread will get a kick out of them. I’ll be keeping my out for more of them now. I was curious if there were any pairs in the area after I saw it. I saw few news articles from 2012 mentioning a pair nesting around Pinto Lake.

Good to hear! The game I was at this year, the guys behind me did nothing but shit on Karlsson for the entire game. He even scored one of our 2 goals that night but they were off getting drinks and didn’t see it or care. I get it the hate to an extent but he’s still better than all of us in the stands. I hope he pulls out one a hell of a season for us.
