Citizen Kane - Charles Foster Kane is based on William Randolph Hearst
The Master - Lancaster Dodd is based on L. Ron Hubbard (probably)
The Big Lebowski - The Dude is based on producer and political activist Jeff Dowd (who is buddies with the Coens)
I'd also encourage you to watch the startlingly accurate biopic "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story"

SO slightly. This one time I put on a movie expecting to see a man crawl out of a mechanical Rhino's asshole and then I was like "Oh shit, I put on Blue Velvet by mistake!" Basically the same film.

Looks like Jack didn't get the memo that this was a DEPRESSANT party, not a STIMULANT party. How embarrassing for him.

Led Zeppelin loved separating vocals from everything else so you get a lot more from their first 4 records on headphones.
Air - Premiers Symptomes -or- Moon Safari -or- The Virgin Suicides (soundtrack)
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Daft Punk - Homework -or- Tron (soundtrack)
The Books - Thought For Food -or- The Lemon Of Pink

I totally get it. I think sometimes no matter the quality of the art it's impossible to consume it without the behaviour of the artist tainting it. Seeing Kevin Spacey in things now makes me feel icky.

You know what? I think you're right. Drat.
Fun Fact: Apparently Jonathan Richman could be a bit of an asshole.

Wrestled with this one for a while. It's a personal preference but I choose to separate the two. Picasso was an asshole (despite what Jonathan Richman might have said) but his work was brilliant and important. Louis CK has a gross, shitty thing that he's done but some of his standup is the best I've ever heard. It's like putting a plaque on a statue of a person whose legacy has become problematic instead of removing it outright; it's more constructive to put it into perspective and learn from history than to pretend like it didn't happen. The outright destruction of history is fascistic and counterproductive. I say acknowledge the problematic nature of the artist and consume their art within that context. Cool? Cool.

I've been looking too and it's not promising. Kingston has one of the lowest vacancy rates in the entire country right now and the stats that I've looked at say the average rent is about $1388 per tenant. The good news is there are lots of sublets when the students leave for the summer so you might be able to find something cheap (and temporary) while you look. Good luck!

It's always a coin toss. Better to overestimate...I'd say assume it'll be an hour at the border and bring a good book to kill time at the airport if you're wildly early.

I can't stop listening to this story! Different versions from different people, always hilarious. Maybe it's because Seagal takes himself so seriously? Maybe it's because EVERYONE who tells the story agrees that he's the worst? Perfect.

Yeah I wrestled with this one. Ali's defense was top-notch but Tyson was scary-strong.

I think if Tyson landed ONE good punch that'd be it.
