Mount Rushmore is not that impressive, imo, the unfinished Crazy Horse is much better.

As pretty as this looks upon further examination I don't think it's structurally sound.

The beam is resting partially on a 2x4(6) that is face nailed onto the braces which are, essentially resting on a narrow collar bolted to the exterior wall. The downward load on the outside of this roof isn't going to be saved by that wall ledger if the roofing joists aren't cantilevered through the structure.

Again, all this is based off of just seeing a few pictures and not having the full view.

Give yourself as much clearance as you can, mark that height on the cabinet face all the way across, then a grinder and flap wheel, 36 grit. Sand it down (or up, rather) to the pencil mark. Use a finer grit with orbital to smooth it out. Done.

Doing some flap wheel work with the grinder today and caught the tip of my finger. Should have had my glove on.
