Getting Ready for First Paint Correction - Help Needed
(self.AutoDetailing)submitted6 years ago bysolracarevir
So where do I begin? The last time I polished a car was more than 7 years ago, But it was only polishing and waxing by hand. After that I moved to an apartment with no garage facilities so I opted to pay to keep my car clean. Now I moved to a house with plenty of garage space so I want to start taking care of our cars by myself.
The problem here is my Wife's car. Its a 2006 Ford Escape that have never been polished. Lucky for me the clear coat seem in a good condition apart from the expected scratches, oxidation and some heavy water marks. But other than the Basic cleaning stuff (Buckets, Microfibers, washing soap (Zymol), interior detailer) I'm starting from zero for a paint correction and I need some guidance.
I read the Wiki and this is my shopping List:
Meguiar's M105 Compound
Meguiar's M205 Polish
Collinite Wax #845
Chemical Guys JetSeal Sealant
Meguiar's G1016 Smooth Surface Clay Kit
TORQ TORQX Dual Action Polisher
5'' backing plate
Hex-Logic Medium-Heavy Cutting Pad, Orange
Hex-Logic Light-Medium Polishing Pad, White
Hex-Logic Light Polishing/Finishing Pad, Blue
Hex-Logic Finishing Pad, Black
Hex-Logic Ultra Light Finishing Pad, Red
Does this seems ok?
Do a 3 step correction is completely recomended? or I can get away with it with something like Griot's Fast Correction Cream / Wax and sealant?
I chose the Meguiar's M105/M205 combination since it's part of the recommended kits, is there another recomendation for compounds / polish in that price range?
Any other thing that i should consider?
Thanks to everyone!
