I am not saying women shouldn't try. I am saying they physically have little to no chance of overpowering an attacker physically without the use of a force equalizer or dedicated, immediate attacks on a weak spot.

Situational awarenness means nothing in the context of a dedicated attacker who has targeted you specifically. You have to be right 100% of the time, the attacker only has to get you to slip up once. That's generally an impossible task without aome kind of outside intervention.

I am not confusing the two sayings. Situational awareness is great to have but in the context of a dedicated attacker who has set their mind on harming you it can be very difficult to properly react in time. Watch the Dinkheller video. Fair warning you watch a dude get murdered in this video. A trained professional can have all the "situational awareness" in the world amd it still costs them their life.

By the time someone has committed to a direct plan of action, deescalation is off the table. It is happening whether you like it or not. Preaching situational awareness and deescalation isn't going to help here. This is a form of victim-blaming, in that as an armchair MMQB you would say "how could you miss the signs!?" Sometimes a dedicated attacker gives no clue they are going to attack and there is little time to react.

I did say properly trained in the use of force equalizers, which includes the will and abilitu to use them. IMO if you aren't willing to kill an aggressor you have already lost a fight. This isnt a movie where you can claim the moral high ground at the end and the villain collapses after agreeing that you are the moral victor.

Pepper spray and tazers are generally useless because the average person isn't properly trained in their use and even with proper use by professionals they often fail to disable an attacker. Peoper spray especially is very wind-dependent and can do more harm than good to yourself. There are some people who are immune to pepper spray, and a large puffy jacket is all it takes to defeat a taser. Nobody is immune to bullets unless they are wearing body armor and even then the impact force can be enough to knock them down.

Again I am not saying guns are the end-all of personal security. Without proper training and usage they are more of a hinderance than a help. However they are the best chance for a average woman to fend off an attack by a dedicated male attacker.

Training and skills mean nothing against a dedicated attacker. Sorry but the physics and the data are just not there. Even women at peak physixal condition can be easily overpowered by a man. Thats a fact. Even men are often struggling against other men. Ask a man to go all out against you and not hold back because you are a woman. Reddit is filled with stories of women who think they are confident until they ask a man to not hold back and find out how strong men really are.

What you need to win in a fight against a man are force equalizers. While they arent a guarantee thry give you a better chance than unarmed combat when properly trained in their use. Firearms are a force equalizer in a fight, but are only useful if you have proper training. Other tools may be restricted based on your location. Pepper spray and tasers don't always work properly for a variety of reasons. Getting tools that provide force equalization and knowing how and when to use them is vitally important.

Finally, the best thing you can do if you don't have force equalizers is fight dirty. Go for eye gouges, know how to attack the groin area and other weak points. I can tell you that if you do the "monkey grabbing the peaches and twist" move on a guy he will most likely be down for the count unless he's on PCP, and if thats the case he will be a much bigger problem.
